I agree with snopro1, you can always find fantastic conditions within a 10 minute ride of Mountain Meadow Cabins. The picture Snobinge posted is within that range...
I have only stayed at MMC, but I have ridden to the Ryan Park Parking lot (this is almost 10 Mile I think - I could be wrong) and I rode halfway to Albany before giving up.
Albany is a good hour from N. French Creek by sled. Meaning you are going to burn an extra 5 gallons going to French Creek. Staying around Albany is good riding in the trees but it is much flatter than up top - reminds me more of the Yoop.
I would definitely consider staying at 10 mile. It is something like an extra 2 hours in the truck at least over Centennial, but if you plan on riding the West side you will make that up in daily transit on the sled...
