The Dukes Of Hazzard......

My boys are into the Dukes big time right now. We have been getting whole season DVDs from the library and watching. Everything they do now is Dukes related. They call each other Bo and Luke, wear similar clothes and boots, play with the Dukes related cars they have, and 50 times a day I hear the General Lees horn. I think it would make their day to get a ride in a General Lee. I know there is a least one in the Wausau area, but I don't know anyone with one. We are going to stop at Docs Harley by Shawano, Wi at the end of the month on vacation to see the cars that he has up on posts. I hope that will make them happy. It's kinda cool watching them old shows with the boys, it's such innocent fun compared to some of the crap on TV these days. We have gotten through 2 seasons now, and the boys want another season from the library this week. Anyone out there have a General Lee?

This is the best I can do on short notice. LOL! Last year I had a weekend to kill in Nashville, TN so I thought I would re-live some memories from my childhood @ "Cooter's Garage". It is actually owned by Cooter himself!!! Kind of a cool place to visit, not a "major" tourist attraction, but cool none the less. It was absolutely amazing to see how popular the show was back then. They had tons of cases completely packed with all the different little nick-nacks they could put anything related to the show on. Anyway, hope the kids enjoy the pics.

Have time for an end of summer vacation? Check out the Hazzard Homecoming. Aug 11&12 in Sperryville, Virginia.
P.S. my boys are addicted too, my wife not so much.

I am almost sure there is a museum/showroom inside of Doc's that has one of the "real" cars that was used in the show. I have been by there to show the boys the cars up on the poles but did not know of the car inside at the time.

Also reminiscent of either Al Capp's …

Moonbeam McSwine: The unwashed but shapely form of languid, delectable Moonbeam was one of the iconic hallmarks of Li'l Abner — an unkempt, impossibly lazy, corncob pipe-smoking, flagrant (and fragrant), raven-haired, earthly (and earthy) goddess. Beautiful Moonbeam preferred the company of pigs to suitors — much to the frustration of her equally lazy pappy, Moonshine McSwine. She was usually showcased luxuriating among the hogs, somewhat removed from the main action of the story, in a deliberate travesty of glamour magazines and pinup calendars of the day.

or better …

Stupefyin' Jones: A walking aphrodisiac, Stupefyin' was stunning — literally. So drop-dead gorgeous that any male who glimpsed her froze petrified in his tracks and rooted to the spot — in a word, stupefied! While she was generally favored by the males of Dogpatch, she could be deadly for a confirmed bachelor to encounter on Sadie Hawkins Day. Statuesque actress Julie Newmar became famous overnight for playing the small role in the 1956 Li'l Abner Broadway musical (and the 1959 film adaptation) without uttering a single line.
From the Li'l Abner comic strip (August 13, 1934 - November 13, 1977).

Notice they do not show a picture of the actual car. This is the car know as General "Lee 1" at least according to the website.

jr, I have a General Lee! Well, not the real one but this is the best I can do. If you're ever in the Madison area look me up and I'd be happy to take you guys for a ride. It even has the Dixie horn! I can't guarantee it'll jump over Roscoe but maybe we can outrun him!

79, that must of been the other General Lee cart owner that I know of in the Portage area. Talked to him once before I built mine and found out he did a lot of camping. Nice guy to talk too.

Have a good day!

My best friends brother in law built a General Lee a few years ago. He takes it out once in awhile, but not often. Nice car though!

Harski, that looks pretty cool. We are now looking for small General decals for the boys 4-wheeler.
