Having some fun with the Yamaha guys today. It's been awhile since we had a visit from Johnny Skeptical. In 2004 Johnny was introduced to the new age of snowmobiling from the folks at Yamaha. Yes! Something New from Yamaha. Click on the link to take you back 18 years...

Oh, and before you torch me, we have a Yamaha watercraft. Doo in the Winter and Yamaha in the summer, the best of both worlds.

? I'm confused by the date. Thought the ad debuted in 2002 with the intro of the 2003 RX-1.

I think you're correct. I was wondering about that too. Our friends at Google had this to say....

The RX-1 launched in 2002 as Yamaha's first 4-stroke snowmobile was in fact, an offspring of Yamaha's fourth development project undertaken in 1999. The engine it employed was the 998cc liquid-cooled 4-stroke, DOHC, in-line 4-cylinder, 5-valve mill developed specifically for that project.

Ski Doo came out with the Rev the following year. Lots of changes for those that were "skeptical".;)

Still good stuff! Loved it then, Love it now. Good throw back, even if it doesn't seem that long ago..... 18 years, Hmmm, sign of age I guess.....

Rx 1 ton kicked off the 4s performance market segment but didn’t really get going until the Apex was released in 2006. Got to say the rear exhaust was cool for its time. 👍

It's still cool. Like to be able to heat hands or helmet visors when necessary when freezing rain arrives.

Well thought I had the picture thing figured out guess not. Tried posting pic of poster s I have in basement can't figure out how to change size.

Look at the difference between the 1969 Yukon King vs the 2002 RX1 and look at the difference between a 2022 Yamaha vs the 2002 RX1.

There was not a 2002 RX1. The RX 1 first year was 2003. Same as the first Rev. Also the Firecats were first introduced in 2003. Pol introduced lumpy hood stickers for 2003.

I snow checked my first RX1 in spring of 2002. Picked it up in October. As I remember it was right around $8000 bucks. I thought that was a lot then.

Right on about all sleds you mention. That is why I was confused about the first "Johnny" ad coming out in 2004 as the story goes. Was that ad then for the 2005 Rx-1? No mention of the dial in Monoshock if it was.
Yamaha was on fire for a lot of years.
First fuel injection way back in the Yukon King era.. Then the first high performance air and liquid cooled sleds like the SST(?) SSR and faster than chit 76/77 SRX. Next I guess it was the Phazer craze along with the industries only 4cyl 2 stroke750/800 V-Max. Fast forward to 97 and the red headed triple intro and then in 1998 the "devil in the blue dress" SRX's second coming. In 2002 the Viper. Then in 2003 it was on to the first high performance 4 cyl./4 stroke sled, the Rx-1. In 2004 we got the137" Warrior and in 2005 the dial adjust monoshock along with 2 new models powered by the industries only purpose built 3cyl 4 stroke engine in the Vector and Rage. In 2006 the FI Apex came out and finally the first sleds with EPS.
I guess that is why we still think we should be getting something new every year....:ROFLMAO:

The year before the Rx-I bought my 2002 viper for around $6700.
