The Price of Having Fun

How far are you willing to go in the coming months to fuel your toys? We all have a basic need for transportation, going to work, running errands, hauling the kids somewhere, etc. There's nothing short of buying horse that will change our need for gasoline. But when it comes to recreation....how long before the price of gasoline changes your plans. In my case, I think the 6 to 8 dollar range is where I'll make adjustments. Probably cut back on our time on the lake. Boating inherently boasts the worst of gas guzzling creations. My Spyder burns premium but at 40 miles to the gallon I'll suffer through it. The Wind Therapy is what keeps me sane some days. And every day of the Brandon Administration, insanity creeps a little bit closer. Thoughts?

Old friend of mine says gas is cheaper than divorce, which is where he would be if he spent more time at home ..........

well for me, its already past what my budget can allow for on toys and fun !
had to bow out a little ways back and still trying to recover
these new prices are like nails keeping my coffin closed on having fun toys again!
ain't easy having health issue's that don;t allow you to work and having the economy rise like it doing!
all I got left for fun it seems in just enjoying hearing about and seeing vid's /pic's of others enjoying what I once used to do!

for those that can, good for you! keep posting pic's and stories for those like me that cannot par take !

Snowmobile season is coming to an end but idk my energy dollar limit if there is any. I would certainly take at least 1 trip north for 5 days during the week. Boating is the same way I run non e premium don’t have to but do. Only thing I can do in my control is to vote dems out in midterms they have absolutely no plan for USA to transition from oil to alternative energy. Their war on oil is senseless and totally neglects the FACT our military runs on petroleum always will. Where are electric tanks and trucks and how would they be recharged on the battlefield?? Our current administration just is not in touch with reality.

I have a 300 gallon fuel tank at the house that I have non e premium in for the toys. Filled in December at 3.56 a gallon then 2 weeks ago refilled with 250 more at 3.97 so that should get me through most of the summer hopefully until snow season and hopefully things get figured out and prices come back down.

Have no clue about total octane loss, but I have been doing this for 5 years and have not had a problem. First 3 years I only had to fill tank once a year, and still never a problem. Now that I live here I go through more in the toys.😁 I do kind of figure that in summer fuel goes in a couple different boats with outboards nothing high performance and a couple different atv/ ITV’s so not as concerned if it looses a little octane. Last 2 winters I have burned a 250-275 gallons from early December through February so gas only a few months old at the longest and again have never had any issues. Oh ya that price includes delivery to the house also.

I'm in the market for a fishing boat. Everyone is asking more than they paid, but I'll find something. Then I'll figure out how often I'll be able to afford to use it. LOL.

It's creeping up at $5 a gallon for me. With twin boys it's hard to keep up nowadays. We cut back on the sledding and usually only burn about 150 gallons of fuel in the boat a summer but the rest of it is killing us with the inflation.

We have plans for a camping UTV trip to the Blackhills in June, if fuel hits 5.50 to 6.00 bucks we are cancelling.
motorhome pulling a 24' trailer with 2 utv's on it will guzzle the fuel. we will more than likely head to the yoop then.
2 years ago we were going to the Blackhills and cancelled that because of .....well, you know why.

It will get expensive out on the water. But the price of 87 won't get much above five bucks. After five bucks discretionary spending will drop off and demand will match supply.

Right Abe??
