The local TV weather guy says the storm is heading further north than originally anticipated...he now has portions of Marathon, Taylor, Lincoln, Langlade, Oneida, and Vilas Counties in a 6-9 " Snow Band...NWS agrees...they have added oneida and vilas to the winter weather advisory, and added Taylor, Marathon, and Langlade to a Winter Storm Warning.

Earlier today they said 2-4 for us here in lincoln...by noon it was 3-6...now it's 6-9...hope it goes even higher over night....and more importantly...let's hope they are right!!!

Not to be the turd in the punch bowl....but....the lake ice isn't safe yet..and trails are not open down here....however...Vilas, and Iron are open, and if we get the predicted snow...I would think you could ride up there...I would also think Oneida would open their trails by this weekend..but I guess we will see....keep your fingers crossed!!!
I may have to post photos tomorrow, possibly do a little ditch riding (fingers crossed).

***Already closing schools in central wisconsin, in advance of this storm. (Wausau and Mosinee in my area)

The more snow for this neck of the woods the better! Oneida county better open the trails. Just have to avoid the ones that go over the lake. If they are not open I will be ditch riding.

Well since the NWS currently has the highest snow totals right over my home county - that should all but guarantee the storm moving farther north and it raining at my house.

NOAA out of Duluth put us under a winter weather advisory for 3-7" they said its shifting NW(sawyer county)...now only to hope to wake up to a winter storm warning!!

Can't believe the school closings already. Wish they'd go tomorrow and give them Friday off. I know my boys will be enjoying Christmas break with a bunch of snow on the ground.

JD, Feel free to jump in here any time!

John's getting ready for bed! He gets up around 3 a.m. or so for his job when most of us are getting up for our first potty break of the night, or in some cases, just going to bed. :) I hope this is right and we at least get something here.

Still on that reverse psychology bit. Although, just looking at the radar at this moment, it truly does look like the storm is going to miss home (Kewaunee County WI) to the west.

Edit: Not five minutes after posting this, I see Kewaunee County has been upped to a Blizzard Warning (reverse psychology at its finest)... Here Mister Blezzard!!!

Edit 2: Although I do find it sadly ironic that there is talk of rain in a NWS Blizzard Warning statement.

ugh, the only time they ever cancelled Wausau schools when I was there from '94 through '01 was 1 year in '95 when there -65 wind chills. Otherwise we had school when everyone else closed. NOW they decide to close for everything

The couple reports I have seen since getting up are saying mostly rain currently falling along the lakeshore, despite how the radar looks.
