The towel has been thrown

I guess you have not had a years worth of experience with the boat yet and the associated costs and time that go with it. With the price of boats in the past years I would not call it an investment at least from the money side just from the enjoyment side, you'll see what I mean when you go to sell. Don't get me wrong I loved my boat and the time we spent on it was a lot fun but there was a flipside with the money that continually had to go into it and the time you spend on the water will be equal if not less than the time taking care of it out of the water. I do hope you have many good times on the boat as that is priceless!!! As for the sleds I will not sell no matter what the winter brings, I just look at it as I get to delay buying a new one.

Funny. I worked at a marina for several years and we always used to ask customers if they new what the definition of a boat was. When they shrugged their shoulders, we would say "A hole in the water into which someone throws money!". They are fun though, just like sleds!

Man o' man, still 45 degrees at 6:30 p.m. in east central Wisconsin. I walked the dog with just a sweatshirt on today, that's a first for me on January 31rst of any other year.

I agree. I feel for all you sled heads here in Wisconsin. I actually think it is funny the year I decide to sell my sled it is by far the worst winter. I laughed all the way to the boat dealer when I bought a new 2012 Crownline. Far better investment, I can use 4-5 months of the year and my family gets a lot more enjoyment. I will keep doing my snow dance for you guys though!!!!

Figure 4 MPG at best unless you idle that I/O, maybe 2 at WOT, so that will easily be $100 to fill the tank. Rule of thumb is fuel burn/hr will be about 9% of the HP being created. So a 200 HP I/O at WOT would burn about 9 gallons per hour. However, putting into perspective it carries more passengers, so MPG per passenger vs 4 sleds to carry the family may make a day's outing equal in fuel cost - sleds vs one boat.

No tossing in the towel here! Just because the snow is stacked in a different location than what you want doesn't mean it is over! Snow traditionally has been chased. It has never been a given. It is not mother natures fault you have to put in for vacation days or get wifes permission, Be up for a challenge, drive to new locations, etc. it has always been this way. (that's how you discovered the UP) This year is worse than most but the snow can be found if you want it bad enough.

"Snow traditionally has been chased. It has never been a given."

I must just be imagining that for many years we used to "just go" (Crivitz,Lakewood) anytime after New Years without wondering about the snow conditions and there was always snow, no need to "chase it".

Chasing the snow is now cost prohibitive for many. With the COL these days, I just can't afford it anymore.

Heading up to the up Thursday night, heading to Tog in March, then another weekend in da up after that, then another weekend in da up in April.

Of course, I am one of those silly people that save all summer for a winter of fun. :)

That makes 2 of us. If I get a weekend in the U.P., I am happy these days. And that weekend is only a couple days away. Yahoo!:D

Just my luck, bought a new sled I didn't need with over $7000 of performance upgrades. Here it is Feb and I still have the break-in miles I need to put on it. Guess I should have waited on buying the c16 fuel. :(
