Things you would have done different when you bought your trailer

I wish my new Legend trailer had back up lights. It will soon.

That is what I was going to suggest...I took and wired a second set of "load" lights on mine and put them to the backup wire on my truck. My first trailer I did this and had them on the bottom but the slush played havic on them so on my second trailer I moved them to the top. Makes a world of difference at night for sure.

I dont live far from the factory and saw some ads in the local paper so I went to get a legend trailer and lets just say they puulled the old bait and switch. The trailer they were advertising WASNT for the price shown. But I figured I was there so lets see what I could do, I talked to there people and told them what I was looking for, he said ok and took me out back. He showed me the trailer I discribed and said lets deal. I cant beleive they didnt come stock with gas doors, thats another $50 per door plus $500 to install. I did end up making the deal (and I use the word "deal" very loosely) and headed home cause they needed a week to install the gas doors. Well I stoppped just down the road at US27 motorsports and was just screwing around a decided to look at there trailers. Then about 2 hours later I left with my new trailer. This trailer is fully finished inside, is 6" taller (for hauling Rhino/razer with a roll cage) and for about $900 less then the legend. I always wanted a legend trailer and then even had papers all done then found my R&R and dropped the legend real fast. When I called legend to cancel there deal THEN they wanted to start dropping the price, I said "no thanks" they said well if we can match there price why would you not complete this deal I said "because you were going to screw me out of as much money as you could but now that you are losing a sale now you can suddenly deal? I dont work that way if you wanted to deal I gave you plenty of chance to and you claimed that was your bottom line, and yet now you will go lower"

I still really like the looks of the legend trailers, and I have a couple buddies that have legend trailers with RUSTED stainless steel hardware after the first season, and legend wouldnt do a thing for them, I am glad that my cheap R&R trailer after two seasons doesnt have a lick of rust on it and I didnt pay more for the rust and still would have had to finish the inside on the legend.

Sorry for the rant, my point is I hope you have better luck with your trailer than my buddies have had with there legends and hope you didnt pay more then what you could have gotten elsewhere. Legends are sharp but my experiance has been the R&R all around gave me more bang for my buck.

We ordered a Legend Trailmaster at the start of the month. I priced them more then once and got some hi prices. We were also told pricing would be best at the Novi snowmobile show. I got a call the end of Sept and was told we could get a very good price now. The price was drooped like 30%
I think we got a good deal.

I was also looking at trailers and decided between a Legend or R&R. For the price and options that come standard on a R&R you can't beat an R&R. But this thread isn't about brands or at least I think not.

About the fuel doors, I had a 2000 Classic 4 place steel framed enclosed trailer. I sold it this year. It was a well build trailer. The part that pissed me off more than anything was the fuel door that came standard on the trailer. Being steel framed with the rest aluminum you guess it. It had very little electrolysis on it. But where it did have the most was under the fuel door. I contribute it to water leaking between the inner wall and outer skin though the fuel door. I vowed I won't buy another trailer with a fuel door. Not only that, I'm lucky if I used the fuel door one time in 10 years of owning the trailer.

I downsized and got a 7 x 16 and very happy with it. About the only thing I would of like to got was aluminum wheels. I was torn between getting the spare tire mounted on the wall, but decided not to.

Here's my trailer. Oh and the trouble lights are awesome!!!

Could you share with me/us who called you? 30% from what? MSRP? or 30% from your previous negotiated price?

RV245,

Nice Trailer. Your Pics reminded me of some more questions I had.

1) I noticed you didn't have any windows. By choice?

2) Do you or anyone else participating in this thread have any particular mats/slides/tracks (or whatever you call them) that you like to use?

3) What and where are the "trouble lights"?

4) I actually added one fuel door, it comes with two. Does everyone agree about these doors?

5) Would you mount the spare on the wall when you buy your next trailer? I didn't want to put it in the floor thinking the compartment would fill up with road and trail snirt and would have to just clean it out.

Thanks for all the help everyone. I have made four revisions due to all the comments

I'm currently negotiating the final price and would like to know if anyone would share "legend customers" if you remember how much under MSRP you paid? As in percent (10%, 20%, 30%...).

I don't really want to start dealer bashing. We can leave the names out of it if you wish. I just want to confirm I'm getting a fair deal.

I really like the dealer I'm talking to and will tell everyone after the deal is final. He's very easy to talk to and has nice suggestions and is willing to deliver it to my house which is a couple hours away. Thought that was a nice touch. But if I'm paying 5-10% more than someone else, I will pick it up myself if I have to.

1) Somewhat The one thing I do like about this trailer is the ventilation. This was one thing missing on my old trailer, especially in the summer. I've always had a digital thermometer/humidity gauge in the trailer. It get pretty hot and humid in them. I also use damp rid moisture absorbers in the trailers

2) In my old trailer I had high profile multi guides. They were nice, but easy to trip over and hard to walk up the ramps. It didn't help that the trailer was a deck over which cause a steeper ramp angle. My new trailer has Caliber low pro guides. I like them better as they provide a grip and are lower to walk in the trailer.

3) I guess you could call them drop light. There is one in my trailer on the left by the black cabinet.

4) If you use them get them. If you are not gonna use them why have them

5) Don't know. I have a spare for the new trailer and just plan on keeping it in the bed of the truck for now. Here is a picture of how I had my tire and jack in my old trailer. It worked out awesome, was out of the way in the V of the trailer. I never had a problem with the jack or tire coming loose. Also with the tire being on the floor it supported it better than hanging from a wall.

The fuel doors are nice if you use them if you dont then I agree with the other post, dont get them. I use mine and would never have a trailer without them.

I havent done anything with my spare but IF I mount it I was thinking of on the wall but sitting on the floor at the back of the trailerthat way the floor is supporting the weight but held tight to the wall.

I would order extra ceiling vents if I ever get another trailer, the added ventalation would be nice to air out the two stroke smoke.

I think my end price ended up about 10-15 percent lower then the first cheapest price nagotiated. I also would like to say I didnt want to sound like I was bashing on the legend factory people but its hard to explain what happened to me without letting it out who I was dealing with. If I didnt say that I was dealing with legend directly then people would have started thinking, what dealer tried to put the screws to this guy? and I didnt want any dealers to possibly be thought of as THAT dealer.

My Triton had the tire in the floor and it stayed clean. Insulate and have plenty lights. And some hooks so you can lift a sled up front or rear to work on it, oh and don't forget a heater. You might also want to consider some thick clear plastic for a door, like they have at the grocery store for the milk coolers....

That is one thing that I really like about the Triton trailers. I wish more companies would offer the spare in the floor. I've thought many times about doing it to my trailers.

Going with fully insulated, 6 12" dome lights (12v), working on the heater. Definitely like the plastic idea. I'm assuming it's for keeping the wind and any residual heat out when the ramp doors are open.

I'm ordering tomorrow.

What brand are you getting? Do they offer the 6 - 12" 12-volt fluorescents?

I LOVE mine! they light up my trailer better than my shop! HIGHLY recommend!

I'm getting a Legend. I ordered (6) round 12 volt lights and will be getting (4) 48" fluorescent lights to use when trailer is plugged in to power (110v)

Can post pics when I get it sometime in 2nd week of December.

Have a boat canvas/cover place make a snap on piece for around your rear door. They can add in sections of clear vinyl if you want it as a "window". This will keep the heat in when the door is open and makes it much easier for people to get in and out of the trailer.

Our trailer was started on the 28th so a week to go.
Are you picking it up at Becks?

No. My dealer is delivering it to me at my house in Illinois. I will then drive it to it's permanent home in Northern Wisconsin.

I was told it should be ready the 2nd week in December. Dealer needs it a couple of days after he gets it to prep it (check over, wax and apply clear 3M on both sides of the nose above diamond plate).

I'm upgrading from an open 4 place triton trailer and am looking forward to not having to deal with covers or all of the brown road snirt that gets all over them.
