Too cold for jetting??? Polaris 600's

We have two Polaris 600 HO's in our group, 1 06 Fusion and 1 07 IQ. Both are jetted with 410's with the SLP air horns. This is supposedly good down to -10 (420's are good to -20 and 400's are good down to 0, and I don't think the air horn kit makes much of a difference on jetting). We did move the needle to #3, which I think fattens the mid-range. We're heading to Wawa tomorrow, and I see the high is -6 on Saturday. Are we asking for trouble with this jetting in this weather? I assume we won't be doing too many long high throttle runs in that weather, which is where I assume the risk of a burn down is. We'll probably try to stay off trail mostly that day.

Figures the one week I finally get out this winter is crazy cold.

You should be ok, just stay out of the WFO range. If you are real worried about it, you could throw a little oil into your gas, perhaps 50:1 mix. Besides, plugs are cheaper than a jug & piston.-Mezz

oil in your gas will actualy be leaner , if it gets way cold take the carb vents off the air box

Adding oil to your gas lowers the octane and aggravates pre-ignition when the temps drop. Adding to the lean conditions by mixing oil is counterproductive. Moving the needles up on the slide is a better solution. Always check the plugs color for burn conditions.

Raising the needle is more gas (Lowering the clip)
Lowering the needle is less gas (Raising the clip)

You should be fine. If it makes you feel better raise the needles up one click. But you shouldn't need to. First of all -6 isn't that cold. Pol and AC both run test sleds right in front of my store in way colder temps than that. Second of all these are 600's. Pol has always made indestructable 600's. Have fun.

Yesterday's riding was awesome up here. Tons of snow, absolutely no traffic. Only 2 hrs from border. Today is cold. 17 below now, will be around 10 below most of day. Just going to take it easy and make sure sled is well warmed up
