I have never blown a belt either, I still have my original belt on my sled, bought the sled new in 99 and now have over 7400 miles on it, and have never pulled a stud through the track either and we have done a lot a drag racing with my buddies.

That's nuts!!!!......guess what your belt is about to blow...lol... Blowing belts is NOT a good thing for your engine change it.

One bud has a Spot so his wife can track him.

There's an app called Life 360 ...I believe, my brother uses it to track his kids.... it even tell you how much battery life the user has left ( LOL ) that way the " my phone was dead " excuse doesn't work.
I have thought about it myself... when kids are traveling or if something is wrong ... it could be handy.
I hope you make out better with ATT... I have noticed the last several years that ATT works better than Veri$on ... we are off the grid alot .

If you have an Android phone Google already has a tracking app built in you just have to turn it on (it's in locations settings - https://support.google.com/maps/answer/7326816?co=GENIE.Platform=Android&hl=en) or go back in your history. I have my kid's phones sharing their locations with me. Hit one button on my phone and I get their location, but you don't get the extra battery info etc. I'm sure Apple has something similar.

Come on negative Nelly, belts dont stretch, they wear, but I can say not many people have an 18 year old sled they bought new and still have it and its showroom condition, I like it when groups of people just stare and cant believe what they see, I'm proud of the old girl, if you ride the lower of michigan, you'll find out that you cant ride the miles like you can in the UP.

O yes IT IS....you instantaneously get TURBO POWER for aboot 8 seconds....I once went from 105 to 112 due to this and it was FANTASTICO...the part that was not fantastico was getting all the chicken feathers off of me and the engine compartment...took out the speedo and regulator.....I find that if you TURBO them at WOT its less damage since it turns to feathers and dust and shards...LMAO

listen TODD...if you still have a 20 year old belt that works...you either have a 340cc or your logging name will be...

Todd I would think you would change the belt just to get the increase in mph and overall performance. So many good things can happen with a new belt nothing good can happen with a 7K mile 20 year old belt. Change it.

funny conversation, I did change my belt a couple years ago With an OEM polaris belt and got beat by my buddies polaris 700, I have my 600 tweaked out, so I put the old belt back on and he cannot get me on top end, I know it all sounds bad and impossible but gonna be going through the sled this holiday weekend, I will have to check the belt again , thanks for the input guys

I am gonna guess you did not watch any of my videos on the tech section....pay attention at 1:30 and on....see how the belt is 1/8 above clutch sheave when not moving....where is your sitting now? see how it goes down the sheave making speed....if it goes down farther than on this video then you will be making more speed....but why johnny is it going down further on sheave and making more power?.....as belt gets thinner and more worn do you think it goes further down the sheave driving the secondary faster? you might be approaching TURBO POWER.....or your shimmed differently which puts that belt at a set distance above or level or below that sheave when sitting still....there are other factors also....like his sled has studs and yours don't....track tension is a huge part of the DRIVE TRAIN RATIO...ooops I said it again...also you don't say but if you have a 99 cat EFI sled theres another reason he cannot beat you....but most of it is NOT DUE to your old belt....your old stretched out limiter strap also is a huge part of the friction equation in a SNOWMOBILE DRIVE TRAIN.....dam...said it again (everyone on the interwebs knows there isn't a drive train ratio.....ROTFLMAO)....study this several times...run ye sled on a stand...watch and learn grasshopper....LOL

It may be your belt deflection is way off since running old belt so long check that first also need to break your new belt in a bit before you judge what it can do. Did you check your mpg new belt vs old belt? Also what about top RPMs comparo? That will tell you a lot about what is going on old belt vs new belt.....forget about the drag race and peak out your sled with the new belt. Also how is your clutch downshifting new vs old belt.

A few Ding Dongs or Ho Ho's packed will get you thru some tough times. And I concur with some wire or coat hanger for those other times.

a few more things Motorcycle Jumper Cables, especially for the 4 strokes. Most don't have recoils anymore and if they did you probably couldn't spin it with a rope anyway. And no one mentioned spare cash. If you lose your wallet or money clip, that's no gas, no food, no fun... I keep some in a waterproof container out of sight on the inside of the engine compartment.
