Tools you carry on your sled??

As the title says, what tools do you carry on your sled? I usually scurry around the garage the night before a trip throwing together some basics that I think I might need, and occurred to me it might be smarter to put together a list and keep those tools together. Most of our trips involve saddlebags, and I ride a Fusion, so I try to carry a decent amount of basic tools with me.

Typically I end up with some basics like some screw drivers, wrenches, allen key for clutch, pliers, duct tape, silicone tape, tie straps, electrical tape, knife, leatherman, lighter, tow strap, and of course, my credit cards.

EDIT - also carry the tools the sled came with - spark plug wrench, starting strap, etc.

Underwear, t-shirt, socks and soft-sided first aid kit. Food vac so they take up very little room.

I ride with a bunch of Pols so I don't have to bring any tools. They have everything already. I just bring a rope to tow them as needed.

I carry the basic tool kit it came with, a Leatherman, Jumper Cables, Tow Strap, Duct Tape and Spare Cash. So far I haven't needed any of them. Not much for tools as there's not much wrenching you can do with newer sleds in the woods. Fuel Injection, Computerized Ignition, heck they didn't even bother to put a recoil on mine.

I ride a Polaris. No tools needed. I do have a tool kit located somewhere? ?
I have a plug wrench, a strap with a plastic clip on it, a cool little tool to help me change a belt And a cell phone.

Hey Grub, I thought it was mostly Norwegians up in your area, there must be a few Polish there also, it sounds like they are prepared.

Seeing that I ride a 2012 Poo 800 with over 5000 miles on it, many times riding solo in remote areas with no cell service I make sure that I have the factory tool kit with me.

A length of Heavy metal clothes hanger. Can be easily hand bent and pliers used to tighten up. Many uses that can help out

Since I ride a Cat I should probably re-think this. I have all summer to build the ultimate kit. I will buy a nice big sleigh to pull behind my Cat. I will stock it with a big 12 by 16 tent. Also a nice generator and a gas air compressor. A bunch of air tools and some free standing quartz lights. Might as well throw in a Knipco too. A stator or two and a flywheel puller. If I have any room left over I will bring a complete extra skidframe and a lawnchair with cup holders built in. That should about do it. It might cut down on my top speed a little dragging this around but I would be ready for anything.

Not many extra tools these days, other than a toe strap and a few extra tools, but boy years ago you had to carry a whole tool box, because for sure either you or your friends no matter what they rode were for sure going to break down.

I am always surprised how few tools most carry. You can damn near fix anything on a sled with what you can fit in a standard trunk or storage bag.

Sockets, extensions, 3/8 ratchet and a 3/8" to 1/4" adapter, wrenches, fold out allen, and hex, varying pliers, springs, tape, hose clamps, super glue, blue loc tite. Anything you typically use for maintenance, hood removal, etc. I like to have a socket, and wrench of every common size, and an adjustable for anything large. Zip Ties, obviously, stainless safety wire. And my favorite tool I call the "AZZ saver"..... Telescoping magnet for belly pan fishing.

IMO, you cant do much with the factory tool kit, except remove belts, and tighten common fasteners. Lock up a diamond drive, or have something else major fail that impedes towing in the back-country, and you learn quickly that you need to have tools. Well, at least one person in the group needs to. I'm not all about paying for a chopper ride, and the embarrassment of having to call a recovery service because I don't have a 9/16 and an extension is too much for me;-)

This guys got it covered. I'd call his entire tool kit an "azz saver" ask me how I know LOL
