not always the case .
have seen many 20k trail sleds with 1 top end job only still going strong.
all depends on who owned it and maintained it. but yeah a 99 poo not many of them with over 15k

number one question to be answered=why did it go down? and,no piston debris got down into crankcase? I always take my motors all the way down, but thats what I do for a living.

update:
mag side cylinder has 75 compression. took off both top ends mag side is scored other side is fine. im located in se wis. i will take a look inside the cranks when i tear it apart this summer. i don't think anything catastrophic failed the sled just has 11000 miles on it. its a 99 mxz 600 that has never been rebuilt. im original owner. the crazy thing about it is i rode 140 mile on a saturday. trailered it back home and unloaded it the next day. started on the second pull and it was just idling in the drive way and died. at least it died in the drive way instead of the trial i guess.. the sled has been good to me if i can fix it for a reasonable price i will

thanks for suggestions.

2 seasons ago I had my 2000 MXZ700 rebuilt bottom up. $1200 with rebuilt crank and weisco pistons and a couple of "why not, you got it apart" items replaced too. My buddy just had his 02 MXZ 600 done for about the same from a shop in eagle river, wi. Both of ours had crank seized though.
