Trailer covered by tow truck

Depends, I have my trailer covered on my auto insurance, but I notified them to add the trailer onto my policy when I bought it. I have full coverage on it, but also pay a premium for the coverage.

I learned the hard way over 5 years ago. I was side swiped on a highway with my two week trailer and it wasn't covered. I have since added it to my home owners policy.

My insurance covers the trailer pulled down the road as long as it is on my vehicle.

Call your insurance agent. My insurance covers anything hooked to the truck be it a trailer or other piece of farm equipment. But I also pay extra for that kind of coverage.

My trailer is covered under my sled insurance or ATV insurance as long as I am hauling them. At home it is under home owners. My agent said there is no additional premium for it.

My ins told me trailer would be covered by tow veichle but only liability part if trailer was damaged in a accident that wouldn't be covered and I would need extra coverage for trailer.

Check with your agent. Depends on your specific policy. My auto policy covers up to $500 damage if being towed by my vehicle. More coverage requires specific trailer coverage. Don't ask me why I know the answer so quickly...

When you guys say its "covered" being attached to the vehicle just make sure you realize "covered" means liability only, if you want physical damage
Coverage you have to have it listed seperatly on either an auto policy and pay extra premium for comp and collision or endorse it on your home owners
Too many times fuys think its considered personal property so its covered, any recreational vehicle is not covered unless you list it somewhere, trailers,
Snowmobiles, ATVs, golf carts, gaters, all need listed somewhere on a policy and pay additional premium if you want physical damage coverage.

We had been rear ended in the Dells 1998 or so with a trailer on. The trailer and the ATV's did get covered and the ATV's were uninsured they paid out on the ATV's fair market value and gave the max paid out on the trailer at the time $1000. I am unsure if they were covered because we were hit and covered by the other vehicles insurance but everyone was paid for their machines and the trailer was also paid for. I would not rick having an uninsured trailer if it is worth much I think my friend insured his 4 place enclosed for under $50 a year

since my trailers worth approximately $10k plus or minus a few bucks after finishing the interior and what not i called and asked specifically about this..it is covered up to $500 on LIABILITY only. if i want it covered any more than that it requires its own policy. just my luck, allstate my sled insurace company wont cover it and progressive my truck insurance company wont cover it...state farm will but they require two weeks to setup the policy and what not. i cant believe its not covered as "property" under my comprehensive or collision insurance. IF i'm towing anyone else's trailer/boat/etc its covered under property insurance on comp and collision..go freaking figure...seperate policy, another $200/ year it will be...

Liability is covered by the Towing Vehicle. What if a Friend is pulling my Trailer with his Truck and a Wheel comes off and rolls into something and causes damage. Will or can my Friends Insurance Company come after me for the damages my Trailer caused?

theres just to many if-ands-buts and everything else to this..call your agent or the 800 number. get the details, write down whom evers name you talk to so you can back it up if ever needed. i'm 100% my policy is different than the next persons....we always hope that insurance carries over in the event of an accident when the titled owner of something is pulling or being pulled by titled owner of something else..unfortunately without checking with YOUR policy coverage were all just hoping and praying it works in our favor but from what i've heard/read/saw usually the insurance company finds a way to win...read your policy page for page...hightlight confusing areas and call your agent or go talk to him/her...take notes....i found this to be the best way to clear everything up!!

Longtrack..Probably not. But remember anyone can be sued for anything, whether your liable or not. More then likely it would be the person your trailer hit that would sue you. If your buddy had low limits of liability and someone was killed or seriously injured, you could very well be sued. In the end its a jury of your peers or a judge that will determine if you are liable or not.

Correct, that is why it is very important to have your Trailer listed on your Policy. The cost of having my $10,000 Trailer Insured is very low.

If someone else uses it. I can rest a little more knowing I have Insurance on my Trailer.

Incorrect, thats why its important to have good liability limits on the vehicle your pulling it with
because that is where the liability comes from, a general rule is to carry liability limits at least equal
To your net worth. Again if you want physical damage coverage to the trailer, endorse it on a policy.
