Trailer with Tank in Sled Full, Empty, Half?

After the last two seasons, I got a trailer and decided to be a snow chaser. I want to keep it with me instead of 500 miles away all the time.

So, what is the preferred amount of gas to put in the sled while trailering? It's a CFI so I don't think there is shutoff on it.

Need input.

Thanks!
Dave

I nomaly travel with tanks 1/4 full. But this year I filled them at home because gas was less than $3.00. I always shut gas off befor trailering.

Think of it this way, what do you want to do when you get to your destination, Ride, or look for a gas station?

I keep them full. Last time I trailered north with the tanks low, there was frozen condensation in all the tanks.

Keep 'em full, not only for the condensation issue, but if your ever misinformed by your riding partner when he say's "you don't need to fill up yet, there are gas stations at every state border" & you find yourself literally in the middle of nowhere out of fuel, you can at least rob a few gallons to get you to the next station! LOL, I can laugh at it now.-Mezz

never thought about it in 26yrs of towing sleds and prob never will what ever is in it is in it.
what I do think about is cost of fuel and corn in my fuel.some states fuel is taxed less. some states still have no corn mandates for there fuel, for those states I carry all my extra cans like 8 of them.was sad to see MI start stuffing cobs down the tank I always came home with 40 extra gal of corn free fuel to get me buy till the next trip

No concerns with towing the EFI sleds full....on some carbed sleds (earlier 4S Yamahas) they do not recommend trailering at more than 1/2 full as the floats can bounce around and flood the engine...we added fuel shutoffs on our 07 and 08 Yami's and now trailer them full with no problems. I agree 100%.....sure is great to unload and just ride and not have to get gas the first hour you head out!

It is better to keep them full. When the weater is changing from warm to cold it really creates alot of moisture inside of the trailer and that moisture finds its way into the fuel tank.

Depend on where you can get ethanol free fuel....

Good point!

Personally, if storing any fuel in the fuel tanks for any amount of time, I'd make sure it IS ethanol-free fuel and treat it with a fuel stabilizer unless you know for sure you'll be using it shortly.

We actually had trouble last year with a cfi sled that was full, it was in the truck box with the tailgate up nose down, and when we got where we were going the case was full of gas. never a problem riding level though.
