Turbo Yamacats

I ride trails slow....lakes different story. I've had an 1108 TCat and 05 Mach Z.
Yeah I get it but lakes usually 1% of riding. I’m 150 hp 4s guy don’t need more than that. Gets me to triple digits but less and less interested in that as time passed. I’m more interested in quality ride and twisty handling , some deep snow flotation for FRs.

If you don't ride that fast and don't go off trail, there's no need to get a turbo. The 1049cc non turbo Yamacat has plenty of pull (and it sounds cool). Yes, they're heavy, but on groomed trails they feel light. If you're going to go off trail, I'd recommend a two stroker, trying to dig one of those out in powder is a workout. It's a super reliable engine.

My Viper has more juice than the NA 900 ace, also sounds addicting. You will either want the 900 turbo from doo or go the YamaCat route. The new sleds (18+) have pretty much addressed all the issues minus the driveshaft. Tri hub has been replaced with a true 4 wheel from the factory on all the sleds, new stryke ski. You will have to get sealed relays from RocToys, and a heavy skid spring from Stingray mods. I've had mine for 3 years and 2,000 miles and no issues outside of some minor things. Now the Linq system on the doos is worth the sled over the engines IMO.

I'm not a 4 stroke fan I will admit, and got my first chance to ride one for a weekend a few weeks ago, it was a Doo 1200, Im not a big fan of their sound and even less of one driving one, the low tone growl gets annoying to me, rather have the whine of a 2 stroke. I will admit the low end torque was impressive but that's where it stopped, I'm certain either of my 800 2 strokes would easily take it, I also found the powerband far more exciting on my 800's than the 1200 4 stroke. Now I will admit, I have never driven a turbo except for years ago a 660 TT, and if I understand correctly they no longer use the 1200 motor but if I could say the one thing that the motor needed and would have made it more fun to drive would have been a turbo. Again, I'm not a fan of 4 stroke but if i was to ever own one I would definitely make sure it was a turbo.

My husband loved his 2012 1000 2stroke cat motor, but the suspension just wasn't good enough anymore. But when it comes to comparing the motors the stock Thundercat would trounce it of the line, but looses on the top end. Radar comparison on same track, 1000 ft, stock 2017 Thundercat 121 mph. 2012 CFR 1000 132 mph. My husband wishes he had the Thundercat suspension with the CFR motor.

I have a 2018 XF9000 Turbo and absolutely love it. No issues mechanically whatsoever. I don’t leave the trail with this sled but the power, comfort, and handling on the trail is superb. Heated seat is a must have after having it!

I agree with the heated seat. Initially thought it was a gimmick, but man it's a nice feature. I have back issues and it's nice to have the heat, as I can feel it run all of the way into my lower back. I usually just keep it on low.

So I have a 2015 ZR9000 SnoPro Limited and love it. I do not think it is heavy when riding, moving it by hand, yes you feel it... This weekend I just rolled 4500 miles, normal maintenance, Studboy duce bars, and 4 wheel kit. Other than that everything else has just been cosmetic upgrades. Mine has the Suzuki engine in it. I have a friend that runs the same engine in an outlaw gas sled. (Obviously, his gets worked on a lot but they loved the reliability of that engine.) They now run the new Yamaha engine at like those too.
I like mine enough I bought my son a 2016 ZR5000 (The same engine, but no turbo like on the 9000.)

I thought this video summed up these sleds the best. They can drive all day reliably and if you want more power just pull out the credit card. (but if you are not lake racing it's not necessary.)
From my buddies that have the newer ones, I think this all still applies.

Summing all that up, would I buy another YES! Arctic Cat or Yamaha, with that, said I think the Ski-doo Ace 4 stroke makes for a great engine too and all of these are great choices.
