Use of Traction Products Poll

On my old sled I had 144 studs and had plenty of traction and stopping power. The new sled though, I went studless just for the fun of sliding around corners ect. But what a mistake that was! I have thought about putting them on, but , not on this old track, only if I get a new one, or just get a new sled that solves everything.

No studs for me I have never had a problem. My Dad's studded track came apart on an Iron River trip this January; he replaced the track with a stud less one.

Nope,
I'm the only stud on my sled.
)

Thank goodness they came out with those products though,....
The "Lighter Folks" would be flying into the trees in icy conditions!

Yep got them in mine (140 in the Rush and 168 in the FST) and had studs in every sled I ever owned and would never ride a sled without them....

No studs on any of mine, never ran them, but I have friends that did and my trailer deck shows it, now they are running without also, in fact nobody that I ride with run studs come to think of it

96 down the middle. I have ridden with and with out studs. I have better control and stopping power and wouldn't run with-out them anymore. 99% of my riding is on trails though.

144 on my '02 XC SP. All I do is trail ride, and I probably won't ride without picks again. Appreciate the traction that I get with them.

always run studs on all my trail sleds, 144 down middle on nytro & 96 down middle on wifes phazer(now sold). it's more about safety.

Didn't used to run them. Then, began to go across a lake at the cabin. Little snow cover, and I accellerated slowly. I hit 30 mph and the back broke loose. I began doing circles across the lake at 30 mph. Did about 3-4 revolutions before it settled down and I could control it. I truly thought I was going to die. There was maybe 3 inches of fluff on the ice. First day out and I was going to go to the trail on other side. I now run 102 studs up the middle on both of my Cats. 2007 n 2008 F6 n F8 respecitvely. Won't go without them after that incident. I was not hotdogging or messing around at all.

If I lived in the upper I would have two sleds, one for the pow with no studs and one with for the crappy days. I would not ride in the lower without studs.

I won't ride w/out them. I ride on trail only and personally think it's unsafe to ride w/out them. I suppose if you're used to one way or the other, it's fine. But for me- I've always ridden w/ them and when I hop on a sled w/out- it's always a rude awakening to squeeze the brake and not actually stop. Or even more fun- start spinning in circles on a lake.

Studs

I have always had them, won't let the wife ride without them. It is a safety issue. Stopping, sliding thru corners. Loose is fast, I don't think so. Loose is reckless. I have had no issues with losing studs, as far as going thru a cooler or anything. I don't over stud all you need is so you don't slide in corners much and can stop if need be.
