then there are the guys that are clueless to the depreciation and are asking new prices n 3 year old sleds.

I agree with ezra. If you need a new machine, find a 2 year old leftover.
I noticed when I started looking used snowmobiles, there is that $2500 price point where snowmobiles get to rather quickly, then stay at that value for several years. I bought a 2002 zr800 as my first modern sled in 2007. Beat the crap out of it and let friends ride it, then sold it for $2500 four years later.

Chillywilly I have 05 Rage with 10000 miles on it it is a very good sled get 18 to 20 mpg. I have put front olite bushings in it changed the rear shocks from a viper rebuildable changed all the wheels.It is faster than most stock 600 two strokes.It still looks good

yep the formula is snow check it go pick it up worth 3k less that day and 1k a yr after that till it hits 5g then 500 a yr till 2500 then it sits and will always sell for that 2k to 2500 after a good snow

I'm a little hesitant to give out this formula as it has been a top secret money maker for Team Kesslers at the last 7 Haydays, but it just doesn't seem fair that we make all of the money, all of the time.

But anyway here it goes:

Current Value = M - [M*[(0.223+0.0345(2013-Y)) + 0.06752N - (B-3)*0.02879 - (C-3)*0.08456]] - (X/S)

Where:

M = Original MSRP in dollars

Y = Model Year of the sled

N = Is this still the current engine/frame, etc?
Yes, enter 0 (i.e. enter 0 if you are pricing a ProRMK)
No, enter 1 (i.e. enter 1 if you are pricing an IQ RMK)

B= Brand of the sled
Enter 1 for Arctic Cat
Enter 2 for Polaris
Enter 3 for SkiDoo
Enter 4 for Yamaha

C= Condition
Enter 5 for Mint
Enter 4 for Excellent
Enter 3 for Average
Enter 2 for Poor
Enter 1 for Very Rough

X = Total Miles on the sled

S = Number of Strokes, enter 2 or 4

It isn't perfect because at some point you need to start making manual adjustments. Generally speaking though if the sled is 10 years old or less and has less than 10,000 miles on it, the standard formula works.

We also keep it on a Google Spreadsheet so you are welcome to use that and play around with it. I can also send it out in excel (or you can download the Google spreadsheet).

Perfect. or a buck a mile on 2 strokes and who makes a four stroker? Noticed my 2 stroke 15hp Merc has gone up in value since they are no longer made. (so I am told). Nobody wants a 4 stroke small hp motor to lug around. Darn things weigh a ton.

most are . most guys are not willing to spend the money in may when they are cheep cheep. between now and the first of the yr they are gold . and we have what 3 guys on this forum looking for non currents .
heck 5 weeks ago they would have saved over a grand

We are on the same page ezra...I picked up another used Yamaha at the end of July....now i have a couple to unload....LOL

case in point, this past april i picked up a leftover 2013 nytro xtx 1.75 for 8500.00.now a friend wants one at the same price and he is being quoted 9800.00 - 10,200 at the dealers.
buy in the spring and save the ching
