Had 47 people show up for trail brushing for the St. Germain BoBoen club. Record is 51. That’s how we can keep our trials in great shape. Always great participation. Still need the young ones to get involved. Always the same people.

We confirmed that it was for sure atv and side by sides that did in part of 109 in. It was tore up numerous times and it was marked private property so it was a total disregard for their property. The State is involved but as of now there is not a resolution.

This is why I didn't like the MSA combining forces with the off road side. I know people like the off road and it extends the tourist season but we're going to lose trails from the damage the dirt toys too. Not saying snowmobilers don't have more than their share of bad apples causing trail closures also, but I hate to see snowmobiles lose access due to the damage caused by others.

One of the key points for MSA becoming MISORVA is to educate riders on what is legal and what is not, proper etiquette, etc. Not having that leadership let's this sort of trespassing run rampant as there is no organized voice providing direction.

I hope they have success in doing so. My observation is as you see the snowmobile trails that have been opened and maintained by snowmobile clubs for decades in some cases now being more and more used in the off season, we're starting to see more damage and closures.

Closures, like 109, are from outright trespassing, completely illegal activities. Proper mitigation through enforcement and education can help solve those (not always the solution, but a piece of the puzzle). Wheeled machines had no business being on the private land that 109 was on. So it's not "trails that have been opened" that are having damage/closures, it's "trails that have not been opened".

For regular use, the trails that are legal and open to wheeled machines, the ORV Program needs to (and is) step up to better maintain those routes/roads/trails. That also means getting more clubs and people involved to take on that task during non-snow months. Definitely not an overnight process. Add to it the tremendous surge in SxS usage just this year and many new-to-the-sport with no clue on rules. Lots to be done.
