WD Tired of you bashing YOUR local club that you DO NOT belong to. If you would have helped with our trail brushing day this fall, you would have seen the worst conditions I have seen in pre season conditions! With 10" of fluff that gets panned to a 1/4" and one sled goes by, what do you expect! Join the club and become a groomer driver, since you know what the trails should be like! MODERATORS please watch the negative CRAP he spews, BAN HIM from the site!!!!! To sit behind a keyboard and say S**T without helping to make things better is pretty sad!

Well well the gang is all here. I left Phelps Snowmoibile Club quietly last year as was a bad fit for a big mile rider like myself. No I'm with Frosty this year so Phelps is NOT MY local Club it may be yours but not mine. You guys don't own me I can join any club I wish to join and that is exactly what I did this Fall. No I'm not going to brush or groom for you ...get over it I know I did. So tell us all why every town north, south, east an west to Phleps is grooming including Forest County & Phelps is not?.....a big question in my mind? Phelps has more snow than all of the other towns just sitting there waiting to be groomed. Also when was the last time you rode any Phelps trail or even threw a leg over a sled....for me it was yesterday for you I believe it has been years like most of the Phelps club but somehow you know the conditions better than me. I have been on JD for many years and I call trail conditions like I see it if it upsets you so be it.

The Cubs won the World Series. Trump won the election. And now somebody else comes on here and bashes WD! I'll be looking for flying pigs tomorrow.

Maybe WD needs a newer better ridding sled, perhaps a doo or poo. maybe than a fresh groom wont be needed to get some riding in.

I'm curious how someone can get "blocked" from lack of grooming myself. I guess when someone "throws A leg" over a snowmobile and buys a trail pass, (or finally pays for a club membership) they become a grooming expert, giving them the authority to dispatch trail groomers as THEY see fit.

Now.... Let's hear from the guys that are going to take their fat wallets elsewhere unless the local clubs gets their acts together.

Airing ones "club related" dirty laundry in a public forum is just plain wrong. It only serves to tear down our sport (divide us)....not bring us closer together (unite us).

Well, I don't want to turn this into a P'ing match, but when they jack up the registration fee's, and force you to join a club to get a separate annual trail pass, the critics will surface, and voices will be heard. Better get used to it.
Nothing wrong with constructive criticism for the autocratic bureaucrats at the AWSC.

On this we agree. But keep in mind, the sport survived for decades before trail fees. And we wouldn't have them today if everyone in the sport would do their part. After all the folks that made this sport great "the old guard" volunteers, (some as WD pointed out dont even ride anymore) all die, retire or get fed up with the whining, snowmobiling will be run exclusively for profit, and very, very expensive. if it survives at all. Get used to that.

Thecostofmaintianing...doingitagain!

The cost of maintaining trails has risen considerably in the past 20 years while the reimbursement methodology has remained essentially the same. The cost of a groomer 20 years ago was $50K and now it's over $200K. The Trail Pass, while maybe not the BEST solution, is something! And the clubs have already started to receive dollars to build/rebuild bridges and similar activities.

We live in a "I want it now" world. It's going to take a few years for the Trail Pass money taken in really be seen out in the trail system.

The club I groom for has the proverbial "old guard" Board. I think one of them rides a little bit but that's it. If this "old guard" in the club didn't exist we would have no club. What good would that do?

I've got to find and repost the link to "the day snowmobiling stopped" and repost it for more to read. There will never be a "for profit" trail system in Wisconsin, or at least one that us on this board would pay for. You want a pay to ride system? Look at Ontario and Quebec trail pass fees. The people that maintain the trails are PAID to do it......very few volunteers.

IMO..this is a must read for anybody that snowmobiles..even club members:

It's all so simple to me ride a trail comment on if it is good, bad or ugly in real time & move on to the next ride day. I have been doing this for years and there is always more than 1 opinion before & after the groomer goes thru or before or after heavy traffic takes its toll. If a club is not grooming and there is no water or break downs it is a legit question...imo... to say hey why no grooming? When no grooming happens for several days and you have 1 foot moguls thru out the trail system and JD forecasts a rain storm you know if those moguls don't get flattened pre storm you may be dealing with them for a long time. I didn't bring up anything about Phelps Club but attacked like I was not a member of any club I had to defend myself. Heck I would have helped brush Phelps trails if they had called me but since not a member of their club I have zero email comunication with them so I don't know if they need help. Just for the record Frosty the Lando Club is my primary club this year and I was thinking of throwing Phelps some bucks as a secondary club to help them out but not so sure now? All clubs are different and I have always joined multiple ski and snowmobile clubs & I do move around to where my talents are the most benefical to a particular club and many times I have been invited to join and move on. No big deal imo but some can't handle it seem to think you are their property for some reason. I have been a free agent all my entire professional life and you talk to other orgs and when both parties see a better opp or fit you move on. All this is silly imo but people are people. Just for the record Phelps call me you know my number. :)

Well put Pete. On the original comment you made an honest assessment. I didn't take it as B&C, and nothing wrong with it. I live in St Germain but belong to Eagle River club. Not because I don't like the St Germain club but because when I moved here, I had friends in the Eagle River club. While I'm limited most times to help, I would with any club. Didn't understand the crass reply you got initially, but it was unwarranted. Hang in there. Calling Ken today to see if you guys are going to run Thuyrsday. Rev

NEWSFLASH - dude, it already IS expensive. And the wife is going out this week to buy the punk azz 19 year old more snomo gear, (not my idea) so the price of poker just went up a bit more. Tell me something I don't already know.
