Mark, I'm in the process of restoring 2, 79 Polaris TX's a 340 and a 440, plastic parts are har to find for them.

Cool! I loved the look of those TX's back in the mid to late 70's. Very sharp sled at the time!

was there not a crew on JD yrs back the leaf spring mafia or something like that that?

Leaf Spring Mafia - I love it.

Lenny, I think you're onto something with this vintage ride. Get it rolling and I guarantee it will be bigger next year! I can't make it this year and I suppose it's easy to say "I'll be there next year" but I'm 99% sure I'll have an ingredient I'm lacking this year (a vintage sled).

Next year I'm hoping to hit Waconia (Ezra says there's a group that makes a longer run out of Lakeville or Prior Lake) and your run, plus some northern MN cruising.

BTW - Nice little steed you have there. I think I can see the early makings of what probably became the Invader.

There is a very nice antique ride out of Big Bay (Marquette) at the end of February each year and they have about 40 mile trip up into some very pretty country and then a BBQ in the middle and then a best of show and all sorts of events associated with it.

In years past you needed to get a cert from the organizer who freely handed them out to whoever wanted to participate. So you didn't need insurance, trail pass or registration. Just a nice 2 day event that was fun and well handled. Some of those old sleds are well worth looking at if you haven't done that before. Folks come from 4 states because it is very well run...and just fun.

Anyone interested can send off an email to Cheri.... and she will give you the particulars. I know that they were working on a one time registration and trail pass last year so maybe they have that in place now, but even if you have to pay it once...that's it...and well worth the fun of the event.

If the right vintage sled came along I wouldn't mind getting one. A 1976 Polaris TX would be perfect, that was my second sled. Right now, I don't think my 2012 will qualify. Have a blast with that bud!

I would love to find a 76' Polaris Colt 295ss. That was the very first sled I ever rode.

Hang in there people. New stuff shows up on VintageSleds every day. Right machine, right location, right price - go for it!

Lenny, if your sled didn't have carb issues at one time or another, it wouldn't be vintage.

My sno-jet showed up and gonna take er for a ride this afternoon. I would like to have a vintage run and gathering the first or second weekend in March, snow permitting,,,anyone interested?
Hey Lenny you still up for this or are you too busy these days? I picked up this cute little '78 Lynx last month to ride around with the grandkids. Its a blast to work on these old sleds. I think I've got it ready to ride. I guess I'll find out when it snows? It already ran great, (starts on one pull every time), so I replaced the shocks, kill button, touched up some paint, etc. Even installed a flag.;) I'm still looking for an old Panther or Cheetah to make a set. Lets ride.

wow, that Lynx is looking real good. I am up for a vintage ride but I have a few bugs to work out of my sled before that can happen.

just like the old days work all night for a 5 hr ride on sat then more work.
U just don't see a lot of guys ridding around with a big old leather shaving bag full of tools that u need just to make it home any more.
U kids with the old iron have to put waconia vintage on your bucket list.

TeamElk, Nice Lynx! Love the look. The flag is just the icing on the cake. Glad to see that I'm not the only one thinking vintage this year. Get your purple and black gear ready.

Maybe some of the JD crowd can get together for a ride. This little doggy will also be looking for playmates this year.

Anyone know where I can find a good, used large leather shaving bag?
