Well it is that time of year again so I will get the annual thread going for us. I know now that fall is damn near here and it is starting to cool off finally I am starting to think about sleds again. Just pulled sleds out of the enclosed trailer this week as well as purchased a new toy 1970 Johnson Skee Horse to play around with in my down time. Just got that running last night. Anyways just looking to start conversation here for the season. Let's hope it is a good one.

Our club in East Troy is just starting to talk to landowners for permission to run the trails through the property. We had our first meeting last week. Anyone looking to join a club in the area please consider the East Troy Snow Trojans. Check out our Facebook page for more information. With new trail pass in Wisconsin this year it would benefit all to be part of a local snowmobile club. Anyone interested even if you don't have much time your money for membership goes along way. Also gets you that discounted trail pass for your sleds this year. Any questions please let me know on here or email strandra17@yahoo.com

John's seasonal forecast released 10/12 doesn't look too promising either but in general I am not a fan of them anyways. Some times I think it is funny to read them after the season is over and compare to what actually happened. I guess regardless like always we will just have to wait and see. Better than all the seasonal forecasts saying its going to be a good winter and then turns out bad. At least most are saying it is going to be bad and perhaps we will be surprised. Fingers crossed for that.

Oh well....I will keep working on contacting landowners for the trails around here regardless. Anyone interested in a club please let me know, we are always looking for new members. Or visit our county website at: http://www.walworthcountysnow.com/ It has been revamped and is still being worked on from years past.

When John Dee is not optimistic about the season I'm not very hopeful. The main reason it will not be a good season is I bought a new sled.

It can't not be any worse than last year. Trails Northern Illinois barley even opened.
Some in central Wisconsin never even opened at all.

Bet you guys get dumped on always happens in strong El Nino years at least when I lived there. The problem will be keeping it as will come & go & have to ride while you have it.

Can anyone post a Kenosha County trail map? A friend just moved there and was wondering how far he would have to ditch bang to get to the nearest trail. Thanks!

Looks like the snow has started flying up north! How bout that! It is a start at least. Too bad it will warm up this weekend. Trails down here have just started going in. Our club has not started as of yet but will be soon. Still waiting on a few fields to get corn off. Anyone interested in joining a club please let me know. We are getting closer! Good luck hunting to all next weekend.

Nice to see white covered ground in Phelps but supposed to be 55 on Sunday so no big deal. Sounds like winter starts next weekend like John said with highs in 30s. Then I will be looking for the whitestuff that sticks around which is about right for us in a typical winter with /without El Nino.:)

My phone says 5-8" of snow for Friday into Saturday. Just in time for opener of gun deer season. It is early but will be good to see snow flying. We will take it. Too bad I will be north hunting where we are not supposed to get quite as much. But will be good to see some snow on the ground regardless!

Just an FYI. The Des Plaines river trail in IL is open through the forest preserve.(Van Patten) The trail runs from the WI state line south just past Wadsworth Rd. I know its not alot of riding(maybe 5 miles) but its better than nothing. Obviously you need an IL trail pass. But I know that some of the guys on here run the chain later in the season so you would have a pass anyway.

Damn, I wish I would have known earlier. I did a lot of work on my sled and that would have been a great place to go for a test run.

Got a little covering of the white stuff this morning/ overnight. Not much but at least the ground is white. Our club is going to try and get some more trails done this weekend. The fields are really wet right now which is delaying the trails being put in. Hopefully it dries out enough Thursday and Friday for us to get majority of the system in near East Troy this weekend.
