there is a teacher in a town next to me Wayzata that has a teacher still on the payroll who was busted with something like 700hrs logged in to e bey bidding on stuff during the time he was supposed to be teaching.students all said this guy spent 7/8 of the time on his lap top.tried to fire him teachers union seed no way went to bat for this dead beat and now he is still hard at it surfing the day away over a yr latter .LOVE the teachers union cant figure out why the USA is lagging behind in test scores though

EZRA, take it easy on the surfin teachers. They were most likely bidding on student books for the children. They were most likely just trying to reduce the cost and burden to the tax paying citizen. You can find most everything on ebay, like pencil erasers, and scissors, and second hand paper clips......not to mention recycled kleenex tissue. They were just helping the scrool save some money......or they were just surfing porn like the SEC guys.

all I can say is my job is way too important to me to keep Also as i said before if you want to lose your job this is one of the easiest ways to do it also all companies can look anywhere in there data base and hard drive to bust you for being on anyweb sight Also most companies have cameras in there buildings and can see each and every thing your doing BIG BROTHER is always watching these days I just don't want to lose my job over something I can do on my own time and at home Also the more time you take away from the comapny the quicker your job will be heading to China or elsewhere Any excuse these companies can have to get rid of you they will do it Do your work at work and then get home and be on the greatest web sight of them all John Dee:) THINK SNOW + ROCK + ROLL + FUDGE,BLUEBERRY PANCAKES, + STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE :p

Hate to burst bubbles here, but if you are on JD while at work you are stealing from your employer. I have plenty of time to post on "My time" and so should you. Time theft is the same as material theft. I own my own Companies and that is the view from the "Other side". It is not fair to be here on their dime, period. note: I am still the fun, luvable PR1 and we can disagree but deep down I am right?

I certainly agree with your point on this but I'm going to offer another perspective, at least in my situation and I'm sure there are many others in a similar situation. I'm a salary employee (Plant Engineer) and work boo-coo hours every week including many Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Example, this past memorial holiday I had Sunday off, worked Saturday and Monday, the national holiday. I don't get a lot of time off during the work week to spend with my family, I answer work related calls at home and I carry a company cell phone so I am available 24/7. I get my job done and I do it with-in budget and on time. I also have alot of responsibility at the plant. I don't take "scheduled" breaks, I adjust my hours to fullfill the needs of this company, including coming in in the middle of night if need be to address a production issue or issues, or as we call them in maintenance "opportunities". I've been in engineering, management and maintenance for many years, I know what is expected and I've accepted the responsibilities that go with this type of position. What I mean by that is normally when the plant is down for hloidays, etc. engineering and maintenance often is the busiest. I browse JD at work every day and I don't feel guilty at all. Of course I know alot of the other managers browse non-work related websites too during the course of the business day.

X2. When I'm at work, I'm there for 24 hours at a time. As long as our daily work is done and there's nothing else on the schedule, it is permissible to use the net (as long as it's not X-rated sites and things of that nature).

Is internet use allowed by the company you work for? You did not mention that. Sure you may feel it is "owed to you" but it can be the most sure way to get fired. I would verify this if I was you. Internet roaming is not worth losing a job over.

700 classic you hit it right on the head!!!! I guess I'll have to keep "my two cents" to the fishing boards that I'm members of. We never get to "debating" things other than a fish's weight or length, but thats what fisherman do.....

Tight Lines to all and, smooth trails!!!
