How are conditions around Watersmeet area? Can you ride from casino? Trying to make decision about this weekend or wait until next.

Not looking to ride far south...maybe just to Lando for dinner Friday. Will ride east or west the rest of the time. Any input appreciated.

It's rideable but as of yesterday groomers have not been out yet. Railroad grade is not bad from Watersmeet to marenisco also 107 to Kenton not bad but I didn't ride the woods at the north end by Kenton. Rail grade around Kenton has less snow and rocks coming through. Forest road will probably be the best riding until they get more snow.

Any new reports, feels like nobody is riding the UP except for around Twin Lakes area. Is it still that bad?

3 of us put on just over 500 miles in this area. We trailered to Paulding Wednesday and home yesterday. We rode to Twin Lakes, Sidnaw, Baraga, Watersmeet, Kenton etc.... Much of it was really quite good. North of Bruce toward Rockland had some mud holes on Thursday morning but still passable. All in all, the trip was well worth it.

electraglide1, much thanks for the reassurance as i am coming up Wednesday nite and staying at the casino thru Saturday. I wan't to know it wasn't going to be a bust! Either nobody is riding or nobody is talking at this point in the season.

Snirtdawg, I was searching for snow via phone calls and even called the Casino last Wednesday morning. I was told then not to come up due to poor conditions..... Turned out to not be true for sure. If conditions remain as they were for us, expect a couple areas to be thin and some to have plenty of snow. Enjoy.

I put 436 miles on the past few days in this area and this is right on track with what I saw.

North and East of the Casino on the forest roads a was by far the best. We found some with no tracks. We stayed in Paulding, rode as far South as Watersmeet, East to Sidnaw, North to Greenland and West to Bergland. Worst spot was Trail 3 between Bruce Crossing and Rockland, some small areas of mud and one larger area. (Ran in to another group at a bar that showed us pictures of them pulling a sled that was seat deep, out of the large mud hole...) Either way it was worth my time to drive up, it was not perfect but I did not do any damage.

I don't have a map showing what the trail number was but it weaved on and off of Victoria Road, some of which was plowed, but most was unplowed in the forest except the last 3 miles before Bergland where some guy in a pickup truck was plowing and not doing a good job... I'm not sure what he was plowing for there was nothing around...

Not worth a drive up there yet--conditions all across N.WI are not very good---BUT MAYBE BY MONDAY it will be worth it...

We rode forest roads in the watersmeet area on new years weekend and it was great. We went on trail 3 for awhile and that was fair to poor in some spots. There is good riding in this area if you know where to go on forest roads.

Yep Frs is where it is at from Vilas up to Watersmeet area right now. I have not been past WM trails were not good enough to keep trying to reach further north & then back track. If going 1 way on trails to WUP snow belts it is doable. The unplowed fr system is indeed good riding.... trails not so much. Only problem no amenities out there in the back country gas, food ,drink & I do get hungry and need gas.
