Well I found the photos...Sure doesn't look like Summerwind...These photos are from the lakeside of this property...The name Hooker Mansion was told to us by the bar owner, which was directly across the lake...Another abandoned boarded up mansion on a lake between E.R. LoL or Alvin/Nelma area...The place was empty, and still had the tapestry carpets/rugs on the floors...I was in it...And took pics...Really not sure if it was Summerwind...Whats the chances theres another abandoned mansion in the same vicinity...
Well that 79 SRX in the first pic did burndown 2 days later on North Twin Lake...lolCool pics! That's definitely not Summerwind but it looks like a nice spot. Haunted AF, yes?!?!
even tho it burned down I'd sure like to have it now, they were great looking and running sleds!! don't want to hikack this thread so back to the haunted house/ghost stories!!Well that 79 SRX in the first pic did burndown 2 days later on North Twin Lake...lol
Yes, we always had about 12-14 of us on the pontoon and every year we cruised the Cisco Chain. Summerwind, we called it the "Haunted House" was always a stop and by the time we got there we were well into a few coolers of cold ones. Remember, we were in our early 20's, but we would walk through the house with a crowd (I wouldn't want to have walked it alone) but like I said it was very interesting, I remember finding newspapers dated way back in the house. Should have saved them but the beer had kicked in already. I'm glad I got to see it and now to read about it is kind of special as I get older. I live south of the Cisco Chain now but in my younger days it's where we hung out.You were in the house before it burned? Like matti, I dont want to even go near it. I am not a believer in ghosts or spooks but there are a lot of things that cannot be explained by science or logic and I see no reason to tempt fate. My son and a friend of mine went there years ago to explore the ruins. They were told not to take anything away from there. Long story short, they came back to our cabin, planned an elaborate, (fake) story, brought a little antique candle holder into our house that they said they found in the ruins, and the "stuff" hit the fan. Scared the crap out all of us. So far, the best "gotcha" in our 35 year history up north.
That's so cool! Do you remember seeing a pool table in the house?Yes, we always had about 12-14 of us on the pontoon and every year we cruised the Cisco Chain. I can't remember back that far as to a pool table but the house was very old and designed for that time with the kitchen and butlers pantry. I do remember the basement as I think it was a walkout and that terrace overlooking West Bay Lake was all stone and it sat high above the lake with awesome views. The upstairs had bedrooms all around and like I said it would have been scarier if you were alone or just with another person. Lots of interesting things in that old house, it was truly a mansion, mostly hidden from lake by trees so you had to know where it was by water to find it.That's so cool! Do you remember seeing a pool table in the house?
It was hard to see it before it burned down, trees and bushes were really overgrown. That is a little odd that it wasn't sold for the land value and something new built on it though. I need to get back up there and spend a day on the Cisco Chain, we really did very well fishing walleyes baack then, especially on Thousand Island Lake.I was on the Cisco Chain for afew days this past Summer. I never knew it was on it. Looking at OnX Hunt it doesnt look like you can see much from the Water anyways. It appears that there is nothing on the Property, Odd that the owners would keep it and not do anything with it.

I love that chain of Lakes. It was a bit overwhelming navigating it the first day but after that it was a blast. Several years ago, a ghost hunting group worked with the owners of the property to rebuild the mansion using the original blueprints. However, as far as I know, nothing came of it. We used to frequent the Cisco Chain back in the 70'/80's and it was awesome. It's a little isolated, not as developed, and I think there is only place left that serves food and that is Bents Camp. It's quite a but larger than it used to be back in the day and a nice place to stop by boat or snowmobile. We used to stay up on the north end of Cisco Lake. When I got married in 1989 we migrated south and ended up in Manitowish Waters and rented for many years until 2015 when we found a place on the chain that we now call home. Both Chains are very nice, just depends what you like.I love that chain of Lakes. It was a bit overwhelming navigating it the first day but after that it was a blast. Five of us bought new 79 SRX's in Nov 78...That one in the pic was the last one left in the groupeven tho it burned down I'd sure like to have it now, they were great looking and running sleds!! don't want to hikack this thread so back to the haunted house/ghost stories!!
Cisco Bar on the North end of Cisco Lake has been open for a few years. Needs work but it looks like they are making a good go of it. Only thing I ate was a order of mini tacos and curds. There is also a little bait store on Thousand Island that sells candy/beer, soda. I also enjoy the fact that it is less developed. I was actually surprised at what you could get a house for on the chain. maybe someday..... when I'm closer to retirement It is on the short list, unless people keep buying "afordable places" up to build their up north mansionsWe used to frequent the Cisco Chain back in the 70'/80's and it was awesome. We used to hang at Cisco Lake Bar a lot back then when Bud owned it. He passed away probably 15 years ago and it was sold prior to. I would stop back in just to see the place again. I remember the small store up on Thousand Island as well. If you really want a place up there you should look next year when things start getting tight with people and they have to sell due to downturn in these crazy times. Best time to buy is in Fall of the year up here, people don't want to carry it through the winter if they are serious about selling.Cisco Bar on the North end of Cisco Lake has been open for a few years. lol! I'm down about 20% myself. Very eerie!Hey matti, I just found a new ghost story/haunted location/eerie circumstance. It stretches from Park Ridge Illinois all the way up to Presque Isle Wisconsin. I looked at my investments, i.e. stocks, IRA's, deferred compensation plan, and other banking and interest statements. Seems a lot has dwindled and disappeared over the last two years. Unfortunately, this one can be explained, and I know how it happened.
