What oil?

So I posted this ? at dootalk and thought I would ask here too. I ordered 2 of the Sport 600 carb and I'm curious what oil I should run in them. The dealer says either mineral or synthetic. But with everything I'm reading some say mineral because it's more sticky, clings to metal better and some say synthetic because, well, it's just better oil? I'm just a little confused and want whats best for the motor. P.S. never had an issue running Citgo/Mystik sea and snow in the old sleds.

What are you using?

I was told regular oil for breakin and then synthetic, but if you dont have variable exhaust valves the regular oil is probably fine, no reason to spend extra money on syn. Have heard Mystic sea and snow is fine to use.

I have a 2010 and a 2014 carb sport 600 sleds. Same exact motor but the manual says semi synthetic on the 2010 and full synthetic on the 2014. Ski Doo doesn't sell the semi any more so I just run full synthetic in both now. Spark plugs are different as well. I would run what the manual says in case you have a warranty issue until your out of warranty. The manual probably calls for full synthetic but check. Dealer threw a quart of mineral in my gas tanks for break in. The 600 sport motors are bullet proof and doubt you will have an oil related failure regardless of what you run in it as long as its snowmobile oil.

I run mystic jt4 synthetic in both of my etech. My wife's gsx has 9000 miles no problem. The only oil issue I have ever seen with any 2 strokes is ones that ran out of oil.

I'd run what the factory recommends . I never understood why people won't put a quality oil in the sleds. For what they cost the extra few bucks for good quality oil is nothing. At 8,000 rpms for miles and miles the Pistons cycle up and down like 120 times a second.

and the factory loves u for it . as long as it passes ISO- l it is more than adequate to run in any sled motor except poss the c tec when very cold out . run what makes u feel ok with your choice wfo across a 6 mile lake

13,000miles on a yamaha 700 triple - citco / mystic all its rough life. Clean the power valves yearly.

Only oil failure I have ever had was a 98 yamaha 600 - the oil pump failed. Motors runs like a raped ape for 50 miles before melt down.

I have run Mystic jt4 in both my Crossfire 7 and my 800 Etec for the last 8000 miles and never had a problem. I personally don't think the kind of oil matters a lot but you have to be comfortable with your decision. The only oil related problem I have ever heard of is people running the sled out of oil. You just have to decide how much money you want to spend to feel comfortable.
