What trip(s) have you cancelled so far?

Had a trip planned for the Black Hills, this is now canceled.

Yep been tough sledding for them too!!

So far cancelled my new years trip (didn’t get to booking anything because it was a wait and see where the snow goes), had a hotel booked for January 18-21 in both ironwood and Munising, cancelled both, both areas had decent snow but I decided to go south to Lodi instead as the hotel was half the cost, and travel was half the distance, and had a phenomenal trip, was supposed to be at the root cellar on Gogebic this past weekend which we cancelled, and I cancelled Boulder junction trip for February 15-18. Currently have a trip to st germain still on the books for Feb 29-Mar 3 but that is HIGHLY unlikely and will probably cancel that end of this week/early next week. Man this is tough… this is the most preplanning I’ve ever done for trips in my life securing hotels and it has all backfired so far. Really feel for all the businesses up there

Definitely has been a tough year. We are thinking of going to northern Maine to ride. They supposedly got decent conditions and I think it would be a cool trip.

When you think about it, in 10 days it will be 2/15, trails typically shut down on 3/15. It doesn’t look good at this point for any snowmobiling up here this season. No storms or snow in the 10 day. I honestly can’t remember the last time it snowed?

I just cancelled our trip to Michigamme for this coming weekend. It’s rescheduled to the weekend of 3/15, hoping for a return of winter. In the process of cancelling a trip to Seney for the weekend of 2/16. Just trying to negotiate with the rental to possibly reschedule for next year. I did get 3 trips to the UP in already, so at least enjoyed some riding this year. Also have my first-ever trip to CO scheduled to leave on 2/28. I sure hope conditions hold up out there.

I have a friend that has a place in Tuscon, AZ,,, he texted me last night to tell me that they are suppose to get 2ft. in the mountains near him,,,that's an option?

Schoolcraft County & Tahquamenon (TASA) are both locking their gates. These gates are on “snowmobile only” trails. I applaud them to preserve the trails as well as landowners from illegal ORV activity.

Just cancelled Next week in Munising. 3rd cancelation this winter but on a bright note, we did get 850 (s)miles in two weeks ago!

I'm thinking of dropping my insurance on my new sled for the year and just driving my back up on roads that are legal to ride if it ever does snow. I dought the trail system here in lakewood wi. Can recover with the open swamps now.

Yeah, but to be fair do you ever really "plan" a trip to the Black Hills? It's more like you see they have snow one week and make sure you get there by the next week. Place is an awesome location for all thing sledding, but their weather is Dr Jekyl and Mr Hyde.

Keep an eye on tug hill area. Lot of temp swings there typically, but with the colder ish weather incoming this weekend it could be a good option and a decently short drive for you. I know on Sunday it was very rideable there, obviously this weeks weather will put a damper on it but it could turn around good next week.

I do not even have a mile on my truck/trailer this season. Not bad considering I have 600 miles in this season... My boy needs a new 4 wheeler, and I'm buying a new sled, so may put that cash towards those items instead of the trip...

It’s definitely an idea! The boy has off for spring break the last week in March, and we would be willing to drive up to 20 hrs if it meant good trails. I got some good info from Kraven. Sounds like it is only rideable from town on good snow years with good temps only after some snowfall, otherwise have to make your way up the hill a little bit to get started. Late March can still bring killer storms over the Rockies so ya never know! I can leave in a weeks notice, problem is mom cannot… so we’ll see if we can figure something out! Keeping my eye close on the snowpack… Maine is an idea too… would love to be closer to a 10 hr drive than a 20 hr drive though, I can handle <15 myself in one day. Anything over 15 and we’d probably have to go 2/3 of the way and call it a night.

For this year I'd be ok with driving 20 hrs. We have 3 guys so not that big of a deal. Probably put in 5 or 6 after work and then eat a day traveling the next. Then drive straight through on the back end. Might have to get creative or we won't be spinning them at all.

Hopefully it gets cold and snowy somewhere! We went out to the snowies one year when it wasn't good in the midwest and had fun with trail sleds. Not as fun as when we rented mountain sleds a few times but still worth doing. When we drove out we got stuck an extra day with the roads getting shut down

Pathetic season out there. Last season was absolutely un-believable thou! Out there pretty much every-other-weekend Christmas thru Spring Break. Nearly 100% certain we won't make it once this year. Pretty sad as we've made it out there at least once every season for the past several.

Don’t give up hope boys. Here’s the gfs total snow accumulation out to February 23. Obviously extremely unreliable that far out, most of it shows up after February 18, but the point is there’s activity!! What did I say about New York!

I don't much about tug hill but that it's supposedly super busy. Beggers can't be choosers and all so I'll do some homework...

This will be the first time in 20 plus years that we haven't been to the cabin in the winter. It's hard to justify the nine hour drive and warming the place up to just sit around.

If there is no season this year in Vilas county, which looks very likely, we will not have been at the cabin for nearly six months. Didn't imagine that when we left there at the end of October after being there for five months last year.

It's crazy and something I never thought would happen.

Sounds like my wife. She's a dental hygienist, so very hard for her to get off. I can pretty much take off at any time. Definitely hard when you try to plan trips earlier and later in the season when you do not have guaranteed snow.
Hotel prices are pretty reasonable out there. We went in early January, so town access was no issue. Makes sense with the higher elevation and later season though.
