What would you want in a new sled?

I am not in the market for a new sled, but if I was: I don't need the fastest, best handling, lightest there is. I would like a nice riding trail sled with maybe a 600cc, good handling, good suspension, hand and thumb warmers and a descent windshield for no more than $7 grand. For me personally, new sleds are way to expensive, and have to many extras that are not needed.
Maybe bring back a model that was made 10-12 years ago, no frills, nice price. I just couldn't afford a new sled with these prices. What do you guys want?

Polaris had that exact sled in the Shift and has improved it even more with the new Indy 600. Not sure what the actual sale price will be as nobody pays the retail price. It's by far the closest thing that meets what you are looking for.

For me, it would be the Adventure that Polaris has out now, but with a 4 stroke in it.

Factory GPS with a big screen. State by state uniform map chips. Better lights. The tech is there for that - the mfgs too cheap to step up. Better range - either larger tanks or better mpg powerplants. There are sleds out there that will get high teens but not under normal riding conditions. Choice of seats. Some of us older folks don't like sitting on a football. Oh, and all for 10 grand or less. Dream on.

You would be happy with an iq shift 600. You can pick up a leftover '11 or '12 for less than $7000 out the door with everything you mentioned.

I am not looking for a sled, just kinda thinking out loud here. Probably wouldn't be interested in the IQ Shift anyway, wrong color.

I agree with JR37, sleds are way to expensive, but we all want the best for less. I personally would be be very happy with a 6 or 500 but I now have a 660 turbo and I really like the fuel mileage and the quiet, just seems like we will never see sleds that we want {new} for these prices again, but if a person can be happy with a couple year old sled, then we can have the best for these prices.

This is not your Father's Snowmobile

It'd be fun to go back 30 or 40 years and ask our Dad's the same question. Electric Start, Reverse, Liquid Cooled Engines, Oil Injection, anything else?

Oh, and Dad would've wanted a Cigarette Lighter too, he liked to smoke cigars when he rode...

Back to square one, "what would you want in a new sled". Answer: A slot that spits out money instead of sucking it in. I would like to see prices go down, heck each year they make them with less parts yet they cost us more???? Is that where the "Less is more" saying comes from?

yeah my gramps to he had a lighter on his sled with that bubbel shield so he could have a kool burning.
always smoke coming out the side and bottem at every stop.wounder what he would have to say about no drinking and riding lol. dont think a stop was ever made with out the flask or buckskin pork chop shaped thing from every guy and gal in the club coming out and getting passed around.then the hill climbes started.well we would call them studder bumps now but with cleats and a good buzz they were hills lol.

All OEMs make fabulous sleds, poo soft on 4s, so nothing for me but all the rest have my mouth watering in the 136-144 4s track crossover sleds. The prices of all the new sleds are crazy high difficult to spend that much dough on 90 day sport. Limited snow this year so far has kept my wallet in my pocket. Maybe if winter ramps up quickly next year I could be looking as bought my last sled 1st week in Jan. Used to always buy in Spring but pointless to do that as can get better deal Fall or Winter & non currents way to go. Attak GT running great too so really no need to buy other than I want a new toy to play with. Kind of dumb to spend the money when I really think about it.:)
