What's a 2 place, 10 ft, enclosed (clamshell?) Triton trailer worth.

I didn't want to start a new thread for this, seemed like there was good discussion here. Hoosier - Sorry for hijacking your post, should only be a brief interuption...

I know this is a stupid question, but working w/ a guy on a trailer and he has it posted as "Open-12ft drive on/ drive off". So I ask if it's 12 ft + the V nose, and he replies back: "10ft + 2ft V nose = 12ft". Is this really a 12 ft or a 10 ft??? I was under the (uneducated) assumption that a 10ft trailer would be 10ft + V nose, and a 12 ft trailer would be 12ft + V nose. Could someone clear this up for me right quick? Also, any opinions on cost would be great: $1200 firm - 2005 Karvan - Drive on/ Drive off w/ fold down salt shield - No track mats or the like. Thanks!

I was actually mad that I had to pay that much for a 2 place trailer. But it was the only place I shopped for a new trailer. Yeah it's a 2011 Triton Elite 12ft 4x4 door. Doesnt have the extra upper lights though. I bought it in Dec of 2010. Was new not demo. I had bought a new sled a week before from the same dealer so maybe that was a help. But either way it was the first trailer I had bought since 2000 and I was pi$$ed about how the prices had skyrocketed. Maybe I got a good deal and didnt even know it.....haha guess Im a knucklehead.

Nope, this should not be considered a 12 ft. trailer. It's a 10 ft. trailer with a V nose. Typically trailer sizes refer to the length of the rectangular bed, as the V-nose does not really add length for sled use when carrying sleds in a side by side configuration.

You should be looking at a true 12 ft. trailer for your future RMK.

Not a stupid question a lot of people try to slip that by. Like skiroule said, that is a 10' trailer no question about it. It happens even more with V-nose enclosed ones. Then you always need to reference the "box" size without the V so you know someone isn't blowing smoke.

As to the price, it seems a little high but not sure what the market is in the middle of IA either.

Not a knucklehead at all, I was just as shocked about prices when I started looking. Like I said at the very begining of this thread, I sold a 10' Floe for $850 more than I paid for it after I had it for 4 years. Not sure why prices have gone up so much but IMO you got a great deal on something you bought at the start of the season from a dealer.

Turns out it's a snopro xtreme trailer. Never heard of this brand. Anyone know anything about that brand? I don't why I thought it was a Triton. He might have said so on the phone.

Price is $900 firm. Seems like a fair off season price. Just needs a spare. What do you think? He is not in hurry to sell. I tkold him i w ould get back to him.

i sold a '97 r&r just like this but black and prettty decent shape for age for $750. $900 is pretty fair if it is in good shape.

Renegade - was your 97 101" wide?

Yes Hoosier it was 101". It would hold two short track 121" sleds. Used it for 2 years then had to upgrade to a bigger trailer because i bought a new sled that is long track 137 four stroke hence the name. It was a step up from a open trailer.

Hoosier if thats 101" wide i'd get it for sure... Lots of the cheap older enclosed trailers are only 96" wide and can't fit 2 sleds from this century on it...

Gotcha. Thanks. I was just wondering since the open trailer we have right now is 96" wide. I think that one is a 96 or a 98, but I'd have to check the title to be sure. The enclosed I'm looking at is 101."

I'd get that one too if everything checks out and it is 101. You should be able to get a 128 in there with the skis running all the way up into the bumped out V on the front of the cover. Not sure if much more than that would go in, but for $900 you'd almost always be able to get most, if not all, or even more of your investment back.

You will love going to an enclosed trailer. It is by far the best investment who want to spends 10G on a new sled to haul it in adverse weather conditions. I currently have a 7x23 inline that me and a buddy one hands down best trailer i have owned only drawback is they are pricey and much heavier then what your interested in. Id get ahold of that trailer if you can.

Be sure to measure that it's 101" wide, I've wasted my time looking at probably 5 different enclosed trailers in which the seller claims its 101" wide and it's clearly 96" after measuring it with a stinkin tape measure...

That's a good tip. Our current trailer is 14" long but not 101' wide. To get 3 sleds on, we need to put 8x8's or something like that under the tracks of the two that go on first. It's a good trailer, but we'd like to replace it because of what open trailering has done to our sleds.

Picked up this trailer for $2000. Drive on/Drive off 12 footer. Glad I found it.
