Where Is Early Season Trail Grooming in WI & MI?

As I have done Brad, if you don't want to read what certain people post, make use of the "ignore member" option.

Yeah- the thing is I have never met a snowmobiler who doesn't appreciate the hard work that goes into securing and maintaining our trail systems..so the constant jabs from some folks surprise me..

And of course who doesn't love the groomer/driver?! lol

really make use of the "ignore member" lol your a grown man and need to ignore what someone else has posted. O my

I ignore those on this board that constantly post on topics that they know nothing about. Also those members who constantly post stuff that IMO is detrimental to the sport.

Or just because I can! Check u off!

Go ahead with the BS comments Lou...it's about what I have come to expect from you.

I've met more people than I can count who think the DNR is paid to put the trails in, groom them then take them out at years end.

Most on this board are well educated on the who's and how's including you. I'm just uber/too passionate about all things "trails".

Why don't you (and a handful others in here) start a "local club members" only forum where you folks can air all your grievances and tell the rest of us who does all the work and who should be the snowmobiler of the year and blah blah.

(And btw I am a local club member )

I am a club member, in s. Wi and to club in vilas. My post was positive and you took if the wrong way. For those unfamiliar with packing swamps I was simply trying to explain the concept and note that there are hard working locals that prepare the trails. I can't get up there as often as I would like to help due to work and family obligations.

Kevij.... It's all good most of us understood what you posted and it was smart to quailfy who is prolly riding swamps and why. Please everybody stay on track about early grooming as me & my buds are trying to plan and make the best of early grooming and conditions. I'm sure others want the same info too.:)

"Packing swamps"

Maybe what y'all need to do for "packing those swamps" is to resurrect the "snow rollers" that yoosta be used in the Keweenaw to "pank" — see (click →) Urban Dictionary: "pank" — the snow on the roads "from the 1880's [sic] until mechanized snow removal equipment appeared on the scene in the 1920's [sic] and 1930's [sic]":

Maybe with a few good teams of horses to haul 'em through the swamp as well:

Superior Snowmobile Club (Twin Lakes, Greenland, Mass City) started working on their trails Fri 12/09, out again Sat & Sun. Early Season Riding conditions but everyone that played in the snow Fri & Sat and left the area today, left with S M I L E S. More snow predicted for every day this week- very cold. If you want to watch snowfall depth: www.elmrivertownship.com and on the home page click on snowfall totals. This is official National Weather set-up

Going to be interesting first time out on the groomer this year. A lot of places that usually get mowed never got mowed because it was so wet. Now there are cat tails and tall grass and we got about a foot of snow in the first shot. Nothing insulates like 5 foot tall cat tails full of snow. Going to be a mess.

Ok here we go...makes sense as was some discussion of different town opening dates in Vilas as some towns have plenty of snow some less. I can speak for NE Vilas and we have about 10 inches of old and new snow which is enough to ride in early season conditions....and so it begins Thursday at noon!:)

Thanks for the updates and all the hard work.
Past two years had some rough early season riding.
I hope these colder temps will help with the trails.
