For what they carry the big box lumber stores probly have the best price on pine 1x8 and 1x6.
If you are looking for some local mill, you should post where you are located. ...driving 100's a miles for a good deal doesn't make much sense anymore even at todays "cheap" (LOL) fuel prices.
and what sort of look are u looking for?
I work with a guy from time to time who puts t&g in pretty much a wide wire brush machine for a distressed look very sharp when done .
but yeah hard to match the box stores pricing seeing as they buy by the train load . if looking for oak or cherry or any exotic U pretty much need to have it milled and be willing to take a pounding.
