Where to ride???????????

snobuilder, please don't let it out too much on your PREMO area!!! Those 2 county's that start with "L", that is. It's still pretty much undiscovered, and not ever crowded!!! Always on our bucket list, and a riding bud and his wife's favorite area.

Most sledders are posers and need high population areas to be "seen" in....LOL just kidding...I love to ride the less populated areas for all the right reasons.
But seriously.....on many sled sites all they talk about is their color combo selection and add-ons of their snow check sled.....LOL, reminds me of if you ask my wife what kind of sled she has, she says "blue"....just kidding again....she looks at me and i answer for her.... I say "heavy"

Better be careful with that "heavy" stuff snobuilder, as she could think you mean something else!!! Women seem to get funny ideas??? Just funnin with ya!!! And I agree, the "multitudes" do like the "highlife" areas. That works out good for the likes of me!!!

Sure it can get somewhat repetitive but we have done backpack trips which gets us 200+ miles away from base. And after 15 years we still have 8 different directions to head out into....LOL
Guys that rent go to the same places over and over as well.

AND if I find bed bugs....at least I know they are MY bedbugs....LOL

I hear ya on the bed bugs and other funk for that matter.....! I generally snow chase as we all know conditions change in a heartbeat so that is big concern with being obligated to one area. Location is obviously key with snow and club strength too is ultimate. My later years now I get as far away from cities as I can. I'll pass through one now and again if I have to for gas or an old favorite eating spot but then I'm gone! There are a few areas on my radar to have a base so we'll see what happens.

I've often had this same question. Would love to have a place up north in the snow belt but I think I would get bored or too comfortable on the trails which could lead to another problem! I could see doing overnighters from a base which could help reduce local boredom. It would be interesting to hear others opinions that own places.

have been riding out of St germain since I was a young child, I am 34 now and love every trip up that way. There are tons of loops that can be made in any amount of days & miles.

I do do enjoy venturing to the U.P. For a some rides too whether for a weekend or day trip off trail.

its also nice as once you have the cabin it lessens the amount of additional expense for hotels, etc
the cabin is always ready and not something I tap in to vacation budget for every time heading north

Rode Searchmont several times in the mid 80's (ski'd there also) when I lived in Soo Mi. Been jone'sin to go back. Haven't been able to make it happen.

I head to Hubbard Lake Hills. Miles of 2 Tracks, Hills and Open Forest and catch the trail to McKinley

Rode Searchmont several times in the mid 80's (ski'd there also) when I lived in Soo Mi. Been jone'sin to go back. Haven't been able to make it happen.

I imagine that's a hike from MN, but we've found it's not a bad drive from Indiana compared to other options. I love being up there.

Yes Lumbermans is still open, good place to hang your helmet, still nothing fancy but very convenient for trail access, food, gas and walking distance to local pubs

Been in your situation when we lived in Iowa, 350 miles one way. 7 to 8 hr drive. Don't even own a trailer now.
