I'm a 4 Stroke believer so Polaris doesn't do much for me. They seem to have the Mountain Sled segment locked up with a solid market niche. I see a ton of their Trail Sleds too and they're a good solid company. I've owned Polaris in the past but they don't offer anything that interests me right now.

The YamaCat Story is fun to follow and I've enjoyed the "Hitler Rants" on YouTube. I see no problems putting a Yamaha engine in an Arctic Cat, should be a good fit.

Ski Doo's 900 ACE is interesting. If I were in the market, I'd consider it.

The prices of the new machines is what concerns me most. The OEM's may be limiting the number of people that will shell out that kind of cash. Picture a guy that's getting into snowmobiling in 2013; 12 to 15K for a machine, 3 to 4K for a trailer, maybe another 1500 for gear. There's not a lot of us out there with that kind of Jack to spend on a 3 month sport. Oh, and I didn't mention the cost of travel, lodging, and maintenance.

Just my Humble Opinions here, I love the sport but the prices are becoming prohibitive for some.

AC did the most. Lots of new stuff there. Doo fine tuning. Should have turbo'ed their 1200 though. Pol moving sideways. Yamaha same old stuff except for Yamacat. Apex will be 8 years old. Prices are high for new stuff but all is relative if you compare to other high end toys. If you want to play you have to pay. If you think sleds are high take up flying.

Not to much has changed on most of the models except new graphics at a higher price for 2014. Yama cat is interesting for anew trail sled.

Yamacat, is about the biggest change. Poo has got it dialed in with the 600 and 800's as of now. Doo, good stuff there to. Now if they can get prices down.

I am curious how that new Cat 600 motor will do. Seems like the way the oil is injected might make it last better than the other new 2 strokes. Time will tell I guess.

I like Poo focusing on the Indy. It's a great deal at what people are picking them up for out the door right now. $6-7k isn't bad for a brand new 600.

In my opinion Poo wasted a ton of time and money on all those 550 fan models. I feel they did the least for 2014.

To me that 550 fan has been a total waste of time and money. It is like the chevy 305. Why? the 350 runs circles around it and burns the same amount of gas. If Poo wants price point go back to the 488 fan. that worked well and the Fugi 440's last forever. Poo doesn't need much change with their money riding on the mountain sleds as a sure win. I think little change is needed by all for several years to get production costs down. Bigger, faster, fancier drives up price, but that is what the consumers want. I would be totally happy with an 01 800 xcsp with edge chassis.

like the yamacat and doo's 900 motor, although I think the 900 motor is a wife sled at best, JMO. New graphics for poo, but the focus on price is nice, if you can go without fancy shocks (which I think 85% of riders can). it's a good thing that you can get into a new 600 for 7K and an 800 for under 10, nobody else doing that.

Yeahhhhh u would than go sell your sled and buy 4 or 5 xcsp 800s.
plenty of old trailing arm jems out there for u to swoop up on

No need to sell sled. Trailing arms work just fine on the Edges, marketing say's, "no good, you need new" and the masses believe. I put 8800 miles on my 01 xcsp 800 in two years, would not blow up. As a matter of fact I never have blown a Poo motor, ever. Wife and kids have due to icing issues. And those who in here that have rode with me know I show no mercy on my sleds. Preventive mantenance is the answer.

lol who knew preventive maintenance could cure crap castings with inferior alloy issues on those early liberty 800's.
if only some one would have told indy dan he could have just been changing plugs and saved all those people all that cash on welding and line boring auged cases.
I am with u on the marketing of new sleds nothing I have owned rails better on groomed trail better than my old zr's. much warmer also.

I must be extremely lucky. Lol. I have the voltage regulator issue back around 02 and the drive bearing on an 05. Had wife's Fugi fanner ice a carb due to water in gas and take out a piston, easy fix. No major issues but again after I get to 4500 -8000 miles on them in a very short time I sell them. I have kept track of a few sleds I had and they have 18,000 miles on that 01 800 xcsp. So a cat guys views carry zero weight on any Polaris decisions I make. Sorry for your Envy!

There are a lot of older riders around here that would buy a new 2003 Pol XCSP or a ZR of that age. The geezer crowd likes them because you sat on your butt and hardly ever stood up. They were unquestionably warmer to ride. They had real seats instead of these football things we are supposed to sit on nowadays. There are a lot of Polaris faithful that have had good luck in the past and are fiercely loyal. I myself have owned many more Pols than anything else but things happened that made me jump ship. Back when our croud was in our 20's and single many of us went out and bought the new sleds of the day. In 1986 I bought a new Indy 600 triple. It loved to dine on pistons but that is another matter. Back then there were no less than 15 of us young, destructive males in a very small community that had new iron that year. I am not seeing that anymore. Young guys don't buy many new sleds. Maybe sleds are too expensive. Maybe the sport has changed in other ways. Overall new sled sales peaked many years ago. Makes me kind of wonder where we are headed.

Nice post, but Geezer crowd???? What age group is that?? Lol. I suspect the stand up Geezer crowd is not as small as one would think. Ride forward is hard on some of us geezers who have rickety knees lol.

I guess I am still safe from Geezer status. You are only a year younger then me. :)
