Who wants to call Richard Childress a hippie????

Childress is "heavily" invested is in his race teams, not Ethanol and even his investment in his race teams is not vital to his lifestyle. If he left the sport today, his grandchildren's grandchildren could lead a very comfortable life. This is just an outdoorsman, like many of us, who is concerned about what he is leaving behind. People need to take off their tinfoil hats and start thinking about the bigger picture and being less selfish.

Well considering American ethanol is paying NASCAR for advertising, did you really think anybody that makes a living in NASCAR is going to have anything bad to say about it?

Idk if Childress likes ethanol or not, but he sure as heck can't publicly say anything bad about it.

But, nobody is forcing him to say the good things about it. NASCAR has a LOT of sponsors. You don't see Childress writing a piece about the merits of Sprint?

less selfish realy?
that is the come back.
environment impact is the argument we are going to come at this from?
just checking before we start this thing.
environmental impact of ethanol compared to fossil fuel is the argument you want to have correct?

", today's ethanol producers are investing hundreds of millions of dollars in cutting edge technology, biosciences, precision farming and smarter engineering. "
1) Most of the money comes from you and me..... ( subsidies )

" In fact, NASCAR has accumulated nearly 2 million miles of driving -- in practice, qualifying and racing laps -- on E15, without a hitch,
2) I can tell you none of the fuel they use is more the 30 days old.

"One of the things that many people don't know about ethanol is that it is 113-octane,
3) It is useless to run more octane then you need and our vehicles do not have Hi Compression engines. Engines running on ethanol need to be higher compression to run efficiently.

"By pumping E15, we are reducing not only carbon emissions,

4) Man makes less then 4% of all CO2 emissions. So we could all make 0 CO2 emissions and the world CO2 emissions will continue to incress. We also had higher levels of CO2 before the industrial revaluation.

And as said he and all NASCAR are sponsored by Sunoco (Green E15). Ethanol need to come from something other then corn.... More research is needed to make Ethanol a valid fuel!!!!!! If it was a valid fuel at this time it would not need subsidies.

CO2 is good for plants I thought? If I was a subsidised corn farmer, I would be rooting for more C02 emissions so my corn would grow faster.

U.S. ethanol production is making almost no difference in the global energy supply. The net energy gain from 2007 U.S. ethanol production equates to the energy of about 1.6 billion gallons (38 million barrels of 42 gal. each) of gasoline. That equates to about three days of Saudi Arabian oil production, 1.1% of U.S. gasoline consumption or 0.5% of total U.S. crude oil use.

and on a side note. China, seeing the effects of grain-based ethanol on its food production costs, this June banned further construction of ethanol plants using basic foods as feed stocks.

it is nothing but a vote buying scam on the tax payer dime.
less than a week supply out of the keystone pipe line would replace all the corn scam fuel with no tax payer funding

So, it's Earth Day.
NASCAR, which is a sport that "has been burning rubber and racing fuel in front of massive crowds that leave a lot of litter behind" is not a particularly "green" sport. It's built on fossil fuels.

Now enter the NASCAR offices, corporate boardroom, about 4 months ago. Mike Helton, president of NASCAR, is joined by his VP of marketing, his PR firm VP, the Ad agency VP, and on the speakerphone is the American Ethanol Assoc, an official NASCAR sponsor. Let's listen in...

"**** boys, we got that durned Earth Day thing comin' up right on the same day as our Kansas Race. Durned Hippie tree huggers! How are we supposed to burn up a 20,000 gallons of fuel and have 50,000 spectator cars show up without looking like a bunch of environmental assasins?"

PR firm "Well, we have a new initiative we'd like to show you called NASCAR Green".

After the laughter subsides..."NASCAR green! Sheet, the only time we're green is when the sponsor money comes in!!"

PR firm " Well, we have some initiatives underway.
NASCAR, Kansas Speedway and several of NASCAR's official partners will be showcasing many of the environmental sustainability programs that take place each week at race tracks across the country -- not just on Earth Day. Among those activities happening at Kansas include:

NASCAR's premier series entitlement sponsor, Sprint, will implement "Recycle for Victory" -- a wireless recycling program that benefits charity.
The backstretch of the track will be painted green thanks to NASCAR official partner American Ethanol.
NASCAR official partners Coca-Cola and Coors Light will educate fans on the benefits of recycling and encouraging them to drop plastic bottles and aluminum cans in designated bins.
A new 30-second television spot about the NASCAR Green platform will air during Sunday's NASCAR on FOX national broadcast at 1 p.m.
The NASCAR Green logo will appear in the infield grass for the first time at a Cup Series event.
The pace car for the STP 400 is a Toyota Camry Hybrid and will carry the NASCAR Green logo on its trunk lid.
NASCAR and Kansas Speedway will donate 10 trees to the Gov. Jay Nixon's Governor's Joplin Challenge for every green flag that is dropped over the weekend.
Miss Sprint Cup will wear a green fire suit throughout the weekend in support of the environment.
Every race vehicle on the track this weekend will run on Sunoco Green E15, further validating the environmentally responsible high-performance racing fuel.
"

"Well, that's kinda weak, doncha think? We gotta get **** Childress behind this, the fans love him."

American Ethanol " Why don't we write a press release for Childress extolling the virtues of ethanol, we'll fax it to him, if he's good with it we'll release it Sunday."

PR firm "sounds good to me, we'll help."

"All right then, enough of this Earth Day nonsense, lets go get some BBQ and hit some golf balls. ****, maybe we can get Childress an ethanol powered cart!"

So really nascar is still behind the times because the people have been useing up to 15% or what could be called E15 blend in gas for a long time. I havent driven a gasser since 2003 but recall the up to 15% ethanol added stickers on the pumps from back then.

Yeah,

Ethanol's a GREAT fuel.....If you don't believe it just ask your small engines....LOL.....
If it's so great remove the subsidies.....It should sell itself if it's so great......

Subsidies? You know what else gets subsidies? OIL, for one (they would surely go bankrupt without it!). The small business administration (what do we need small businesses for anyway!), energy, nuclear and coal, not just wind and solar (wait, what? but the internets told me that the hippie energy lobby was the only one getting monies) , Agriculture (damn lazy farmers) , the list goes on and on and on.

I have NEVER had a problem with anything I have put ethanol blended gasoline in even after it had been sitting for a season. 2 in the case of my boat. I just make sure to do the normal maintenance and add a little sta-bil and everything works just fine. Then again, that sta-bil is expensive stuff!!!! Probably a conspiracy there too. I bet the ethanol people are in kahootz with the sta-bil people and laughing all the way to the bank!!!!!!! oops, I dropped my tinfoil hat, better put it back on before the government tries to read my thoughts!!!!!!

BS it makes or a nice talking points there is a huge difference between tax deductions and taking my money buy threat of imprisonment and giving it to someone else. look it up and show me 1 oil company who is getting a direct payment subsidy

I'm sure if you did a poll there would be more people AGAINST ethanol than for it....I don't need a tinfoil hat to figure that much out....

hay I am all for it if it can stand on its own with no laws about use or direct subsidies from my tax money.if you want to let them depreciate all there equipment in the first yr like big oil ok with me just no mandated BS.
but we all know it cant stand on its own just like wind solar algae batteries etc etc.
I can tell you the day some one comes up with a viable renewable energy source they will not accept a dime from the fed they wont have to.
in fact they will be hindered buy the fed and prob forced to give up technology to some one like GE by threat of imprisonment or just disappear.they will say to much power for just one company to have.no they wont be looking in the mirror and laughing.
really irrelevant at this point if the spending dose not stop it is all going to crumble and the week will be calling to the world government to save them and at that point we will be a one world government and we will not have a choice on what fuel we use.
BTW any one see how China is going to start paying for its oil? no not the US dollar Gold yes gold that is not a good thing saying alot about the US dollar

Last time I checked at our local ethanol plant,no one has been killed protecting it. Can,t say that for big oil coming from the middle east. The small subsidy that is recieved is a small blip on the radar compared to the military action it takes to fight the wars protecting all that crude oil.Not to mention,Monsanto,Johndeere,Cat,Dupont,Chevy, the list go on and on.All the people employed by these plants ,ARE YOU SURE THAT THE SMALL SUBSIDY ISN'T WORTH IT? Just my two cents.

well we would not have to be fighting for it if not so many road blocks preventing drilling our own oil or transporting Canadian oil.
and I dont care how many people your local plant employees NO CORPATE WELFAIR OR MANDATES ON USE! and when I say no fed checks that is for all buisness including Chev john deer GE on and on and on I am sick of it.I for one will never buy a GM again.I try to do my home work and not buy big ticket items that are on corprate welfair. if you cant make it by by.
BTW the USA uses almost no Iraq oil. in fact not even the military used Iraq oil most of the fuel about 925 million bucks a week consumed buy the Miliatry in Iraq was purtched from a Turkish refinery that is a state run refinery using turkish crude.
I am not defending the wars just stating the facts we get almost no oil from Iraq.
now Heroin from Afghanistan yes the USA gets the bulk of that load but hey the CIA planted it so I guess who better to run its distrabution.
