Why do some baseball players wear such long pants?

I mean they are like 6" too long and they are stepping on that extra length. Covers their shoes. You'd think they'd be tripping over them?

I was wondering the same thing and my guess is that it's style trends.

You guys must be a little late to the show! This trend has been going on for the 10 years. Wayyy more comfortable to wear them like that and I had never tripped over them back in my day.

If you really pay attention to it, you will notice most of the time the really fast guys, the base stealers, will wear the short pants with tall socks/stirups, and the others usually wear the real long pants.

Just a style thing no idea why?... the socks worked great for me back in the day.
