Wii

I bought a Wii for my nephew. I also bought an extra controller, nun-chuck, and 3 games. This is the 1st gaming system that I have bought. Do I need anything else to make this thing fun?
Thanks a lot.

You have everything to make the systen fun for about a week, then they will become a steady drain on your wallet as the kids want a new game with every trip to town. BUT they will have a blast!

We also have the wii and it is a lot of fun. As stated earlier, you will probably need to add games to keep the interest going. It is interesting because sometimes the adults will have just as much fun as the kids. We also use the wii to access netflix. It is pretty cool. You can instantly select movies to watch using the wii. The only problem is the selection from the wii is not as extensive as the selection from the the computer.

You can do a subscription to a thing called Gamefly, it is like netflix where you can rent games through the mail and keep them as long as you like and when you are done just mail them back. Having all 3 systems in our house (husband, no kids) it gets super expensive and out of control so game fly comes in handy.

Also have the Kinect for Xbox and it is pretty cool, need more games but have a lot of fun with what we have so far.

1blue: Would you recommend the Xbox Kinect? I was thinking about that instead of the Wii. That way, when I don't want to use the Kinect part of it, it is still an awesome gaming system. This was the one thing I didn't like about the Wii, it is nothing like the Playstation 3 or Xbox as a stand alone system.

So I hooked it up last night and played for 2 hours. I didn't know I had 2 spare hours. I'll have to buy another one for the nephew.

Yamahauler: I would recommend it. My husband is a huge gamer and he isn't all that impressed but he plays Halo, Modern Warfare, Forza etc. I enjoy the Kinect for what it is, mindeless fun. It certainly is not for serious gaming but for family, friends fun I love it.
The just using your body is better than the Wii, nothing to hold and it logs you in by sensing your body, it can tell the difference between my husband and I. We have the Kinect Adventures, the Kinect Sports and Joy Ride. I mostly do the Kinect sports. Ping Pong, Volley Ball, Boxing, Bowling Etc. My body hurt for 2 days! Also there are some workout ones but I have heard they aren't all that good yet.

haha, I love playing the serious gamer card. We're more 'core, dammit!

On the topic, if you have IR / nightvision goggles or a camera with nightshot (IR) the kinect looks really cool in use.

Yes, there is a Ski-Doo game, again coming from playing Gran Turismo or Forza the Ski-Doo game is lame but for $9 I think that is what it is now it's fun for a bit. We have have it for the 360 not sure if it is available for the other systems.
