My dad bought a snowstuff can for his 2001 edge 500cc. He doesnt like it because it is to loud for him, but i would love it.

I have a 2001 edge 600cc bored .10

I know it will fit my sled

No part number on the can

My question is if i put this can on my snowmobile will my sled be alright mechanically. From what i have heard from random people is that they are all tuned the same. I am just wondering if any of you know anything about this. I would love to put this one on my sled because it is free. I just dont want to put the wrong can on their and then have my sled bow up on the trail or something like that.

thanks for the help

you can put it on it will prob work fine .but SS is the worst of the worst of the cand a 2s needs some back pressure to work well the ss has 0 pack pressure so you can strap it on make some noise and loose 3 to 5 hp on a f7 you will drop 7to8hp with a ss can

if you want to lose some top end, go for it! like ezra said, many have dynoed sleds using cans, and in almost EVERY instance, they lose hp. Not to mention without rejetting, you're risking blowing it up.

even though it is a reed valve motor you still think i will loose hp. hpw much does it cost to get the sled rejetted

jets cost like $3 a piece. With it bored out, i'd be running oversized jets in it right now. I'd try and sell it for $100-150 and take the $ and spend it on something to make the sled last longer...

And....
make it faster
more reliable
less anoying

some of the slp cans d&d cans and 1 or 2 BMP cans are baffeld to give some back presure to at least stay at same hp as with stock can.slp will be the least weight loss then D&D then BMP and hp loss in same order from least to most.

the can will go on and you might have to rejet chances are you will not. To know if you have to rejet you should look at the spark plugs to see what color they are after you run the sled wide open and shut down the sled holding the throttle wide open. like others have said you do need back pressure and are actually doing more harm than good without it. slp is the way to go if you want to put a can on your sled.

The chances of that can causing a lean burndown on an otherwise stock sled is slim to none in my opinion. Ill leave the noise debate to the other posters, as I would be the pot calling the kettle black in this situation. However, the "free-ness" of that can will change quickly if you get a loud exhaust ticket.
