Wisconsin to Lower nighttime speed limit???

Is it just me, or is Wisconsin regulation happy?

I suggest that you enact a law that says snowmobiles should only proceed at night driving in reverse. That way sledders can only go as fast as the machine will allow it to go back-wards, and then at night red lights means watch out.

Laws only protect those who obey them, and it won't stop people from disobeying them or those bent on killing themselves.

This is Darwin's theory in action, and we should NOT interfere with this process...cupish??

For the rest of the population that wants to live and pass on their genes, if you come across a dead snowmobiler on the trail, do what we do in the U.P. regarding the wolf problem....shovel and shut up. No bodies to count, the legislative members can rest easy and THINK that they have saved the day.

Don't forget to bury them OFF trail, as my old sled doesn't like big bumps IN the trail and too many of them might knock me off my sled...I'm gett'n old, don't yah know!

Actually the reduced speed at night is about to be dropped altogether, its attached to the AWSC bill (SB-406). I talked with my local rep and he supports no speed restriction.

I don't know if its bait to pass the SB-406 or if it can be dropped on its own. I will be calling later to find out.

How about a regulation to keep people on the right side of the trail?

Sledders could be a whole lot safer with everyone on the correct side of the trail. It's not like we have any confusion on the subject. Everyone drives on the right side in all neighboring countries.

Just kidding on this one. No need for regulations to make people ride safe. Just brains.

SB-406 would mean 55 mph at night would stay

Saber, I read the bill to repeal the expiration on the 55 mph limit at night. When they passed the law the last time around they said they would give 55 mph at night another try and see how it worked out but it would expire on July 1st, 2010. They call it a sunset when they have a limit or expiration on the back end.

I read SB-406 to repeal the July 1st expiration. Meaning the 55 mph at night would stay law (probably for good this time). So if you do not like the 55 mph at night you would be against SB-406.

Someone else please jump in here to make sure everyone understands what is happening.

45 mph is a hoax or some misquote and not true, from what I can tell.

United, you are correct. I talked with my Representative today and that was confirmed. Yes the night time speed limit will stay permanantly. Its not law yet as they meet next week to talk about the bill.
