Just thought i'd see how many of us sledders are seeing wolf on the trails.

Saw one already this year that trotted along in front of me on trail 2 about 10 miles west of Iron River...kept looking
over the shoulder at me.......glad I was on a sled....it was dark out.

I've seen wolf, deer legs, hides, or wolf skat every year over the past 7 years....always inda UP,eh.

Crystal Falls (in "town"); Baraga Plains; Newberry; Iron Mountain; Keweenaw; Brevort; Munising. Sled in winter, bike in summer. Also encountered them in northern LP of MI.
It's changed how and where we stop for a break in the dark.

We had one run out in from of our sleds near Germfask ( outside Seney Wildlife Refuge ) a couple of years ago. I have seen a lot of wolf tracks steadily over the last 5 years or so. I had one run across the road in front of my truck just north of Bruce Crossing early in the AM. We seen a mountain lion sledding north of WildRose Wis last year.

I have them regularly around my property.....had one about a week ago come up to my garage...

makes me think twice about letting my kids be kids outside. I went out and followed the tracks last weekend. around the edge of my field and crossed in a low area to get closer to my house, then up by the garage and about 5 feet from my front door.

there is a real problem here....after a dog got killed less than a mile from me, I will never get caught outside without my gun.

sad really... as a kid around here we never ever worried about them or what could be lurking. I have never seen a wolf on the trail but I have seen tracks....I've seen a few coyotes. the most scared I've ever been is when I was almost hit by a huge owl about 4 years ago..i think I needed to wipe.

Yep must be sleeping.

Saw a pack of beautiful gray wolves Paulding /WM off 107 on an unplowd FR loping thru very deep snow. Sat there watching taking it all in then remembered I have jerky in my saddlebags woke me up hauled balls out of there talked to Mrs RB said DNR knew about that pack never hurt anything....good enough for me.

We've had a total of five (5) dogs killed in this area since fall........4 hunting dogs in training and one pet........we have a pair of extremely expensive furry kids and I am ALWAYS armed when they are outside.......if I even see a wolf he better either be able to outrun a .357 or be wearing body armor or the chances are he will not survive the experience........

I found fresh tracks in Hessel while biking. The this past summer we saw several wolves while driving in the area from Iron River, Twin Lakes, and over by the mountains. Everyone sighting was in mid day and blue skies.

In northern MN we see them multiple times a year on the trails. Two winters ago we had one kill a deer 200 feet from our house. It happened at night with a house full of people and we never heard a thing.

It has been a few years now but just south of L'anse a couple miles I hit a big wolf with my sled. Middle of the day with sunny skies. He ran right out in front of me and got rolled under my sled then got up and ran across the field we were by. Scared the crap out of me. Around our hunting camp by Hill City, MN we see wolves every once and awhile, lots and lots of tracks though. 2 years ago in Grand Rapids, MN while riding we had 4 wolves walking in front of us on the trail. They definitely were not afraid of us or our snow sleds. They slowly walked off the trail and stopped under some pines and watched us as we slowly drove by. They are a beautiful animal but have caused major destruction in the deer heard where we hunt. The DNR had 22 trapped less than a mile from our camp.

I was on the Dreamland Trail about five years ago and was first tracks through 3 ft of new powder. Saw what I thought was a German Shepherd on the trail in front of me bounding ahead and jumped off into a back yard. Then I realized that the house was closed for the season and that it was not somebodies dog.
