Last year my wife and I purchased up a popup camper that we listed on a RV rental website and added an additional 19’hard side trailer this year; the popup rents for $70 and the hard side for $120 per night with a 3 day minimum we allow pickup on thursday night and drop off on Sunday so people have a day to get packed. The rentals have done OK we take a large deposit and have all the proper insurance for liability and damage, which is difficult to find when you disclose its a rental. We live about an hour north of the Illinois, Wisconsin boarder most rentals are people who just don’t have room to store a camper and having to pay for storage is not justifiable for the few times a year it would be used and like a VBRO we have had many people rebook for the following year. The popup can be towed by minivan or small SUV and the hard side by a mid size or full size SUV or Pickup it weighs 3400lbs and has a wireless brake controller.
I wanted to put out feelers to see if there is any interest in 4 place enclosed trailer rental. I am thinking a trailer that would fit 4 sleds, I am open to suggestions regarding length inline or over axle, it will need to be tow able by a ½ ton truck or SUV since most are now capable or towing 7,000lbs plus. I also don’t want it to be so long that it’s going to be difficult for a person not use to towing long trailers. Since most people who own snowmobiles have trailers the target renter will be people who are looking to take trips in groups like the annual trip out west. It seems like most snowmobile trailers I see heading north are enclosed and I would suspect people with enclosed trailers no longer have covers that are suitable for 5 hour plus slush filled rides to the north or out west.
The most important question would be what would are people be willing to pay to rent it per day.
