I charged it multiple times all summer, just could not make a battery last in any of our sleds.

Men start their sleds with pull ropes! :p

It was -30 up in Minocqua this past year. I started my 700 in 2 pulls... just short of 7000 miles and still ticking...

you said it indy still ticking like a time bomb ready to go off

Yeah, the trick is to use a float charger that just stays plugged in rather than periodic charging. That's why the BT Junior is good, it is a low amp charger that keeps the battery at 100%. Also good for cold nights so it can be plugged in if you want to keep the battery toasty

What????

Why can't you carry a Coleman two burner stove in the trailer just for dem moments? Now there's a pre heat with the smell of bacon on it!lol.

The flip side to this is some poor guy standing there with a broken starter rope for an 800 2s in -20F. LOL Seen it happen too many times.-20F or colder is hard on everything 2s or 4s.:)

It's not the engine oil or the batteries on the Yamaha's it's the relays, I have 2, 4stroke Yamaha's one carb'ed and one injected. Simply get a heat source and open the right side cover, heat the relays for about 10-15 min and your good as gold for the rest of the day. What I did to keep from having issues was to pick up an extra set of the relays and keep them in the cabin so if in the morning you have an issue you swap them out and away you go. Quicker, cleaner and easier then checking, adding 2 stroke oil any day hands down!

In all my years of sledding the 2 best investments hands down were, buying my Yamaha 4 strokes and my liquid truck bed liner for my trailer deck!

I have ridden with Yamaha's that have had no trouble starting in -20 or colder temps. If you are in Detroit Lakes in January chances are pretty good that it is going to be -20 or colder outside and if you are there to ride that is what you are going to do.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw this post. Every time I make the trek to Northern MN in January (or even February), there's a good chance that if I want to ride, it will be in -20 or below temps. My Marmot choppers and Lacrosse Ice Kings are both rated for -100 so I have no excuses. My Summit takes a few more pulls at these temps and believe me, I take some ribbing for it when I'm in Polaris-land but I haven't been the subject of a video (yet).

As a side note, I'm seeing more and more engine heaters on both two and four strokes and they work great. Highly recommended for the territory.

Got this photo from my brother a while back. He took it at his home near Lake of the Woods.

And yes, people did ride that day.

Teamblue, it is priceless that you don't think the video is real. I can have the 2 owners of the Apex chime in and tell you it is very real. Dead battery on the blue one and frozen relays on the black one!

my 07 phazer mtn lite had this problem a few times. The first time I had no idea but I live blocks away from the dealer and it was running in a few hrs. After learning what it was, the next time I opened up my side panel and had my buddy with his rx1 rear exhaust blow it at the general area and in a few mins it was running. The last few times I used a needle nose pliers and removed the relay and put them under my arm pit for a few mins, put it back and fired up. No doubt it was a hassle and seems unnecessary but I would not call the sled unreliable, especially compared to my buds 2 strokes. I had much less issues that prevented me from riding compared to my friends. Any well maintained sled with give great reliability and that is why I am not hesitant to run a 2 smoke, in fact, I currently do not own a yammi 4 stroke

I would like to mention that this thread title comes close to bashing of a manufacturer. It's kinda childish to point out a issue in the manner presented. If I were a mod, I would have deleted it or sent it back to the starter to edit it, regardless of the sled manufacturer

I agree with you Lenny this teeters on the edge of bashing. Sure we can have some fun with videos but if everyone started posting vids & pictures of their buddies sleds with the hoods up & their heads looking in the engine compartment that is all we would discuss day & night. Seems to be a lot of emotion regarding 4s Yamahas which is strange to me to single Yam out like an itch that has to be scratched. I ride a Yamaha Attak 4s but I don't care what everybody else rides the brand just does not make any difference to me.:)
