IMHO I think yammy could have at least changed up the hood instead of a blue paint job and new stickers snopro120_action13_4478.jpg 2013-Yamaha-SRX-120.jpg snopro120_action13_4478.jpg 2013-Yamaha-SRX-120.jpg

I get them not wanting to build there own but come on a blue paint job and a 50lb weight in the trunk to make it authentic.
what would it cost to redesign a hood that would fit the cat belly pan?

but then I also think cat could do some work on that 13yr old hood

I noticed that too. At least they came out with a new sled this year! :)

They had the Cat and the Yammie at Lake Geneva this weekend for the kids to ride. I was asked which sled would you like the kids to try? My response was does it really matter its just a Cat painted blue, in fact when I walked up I thought you guys did just that for some variety. I was shocked to see it was a real production sled.

Your right can't believe they did not change the hood a little.

the difference is future marketing

To me Yamaha looking for the graceful exit door & enhance partnership with AC to be be their OEM engine supplier in the near future. Really nothing new from Yam for 2013 been coasting for years.

yeah that makes sense but you could still change at least the hood I think I drive arctic cat still today and in part because of a kitty cat in 1972 an old puma in various other old cats.
none were as nice or as reliable as my first 1979 enticer but the cat still hold a place in my heart as my first experience with snowmobiles.
almost like an identity if you think these manufacturers are building the toys for short term profit better think again

Well since the Cat uses a Yammie engine what's the difference!

Not quite.........the Z120 my granddaughter had had a Honda engine in it......imagine our surprise when we opened the hood to adjust when she claimed "Daddy, it doesn't go good".........she was 6 back then.........

Yamaha 4s engines can easily pass next 2016 EPS snowmobile emisson engine reqirements. The 600etek will pass the 800etek can not in current form & is problematic already. Poo 2s who knows??...... & AC is not going to fool around with a dirty 600 2s since their 1100 4s fills that niche so enter Yamaha 4s engines for Cat as an easy way to buy best 4s engines for snowmobiles to meet 2016 EPA requirements. Does Yamaha stay in the market & treadwater until 2016 then release new engines & platforms? Maybe..... or would it be more profitable to sell engines to AC? I don't trust current injected 2s too last much past 5000 miles so further oil reduction would be real time bombs or users will just mix oil in gas at every fill up & hope for a faverable outcome. At some point clean 2s just will not be possible to meet EPA requirements. Enjoy them while you got em but future does not look good for 2s.

Put the Vector motor in the 11 Twinspar chassis and you'd have a veryyyyy nice 1-up trail cruizer!
Yep, been waiting for, and saying this for years. If I'm gonna "have" to get a 4 stroke, and its gonna cost me 15 grand, the darn thing better sound good too. Until then, I'm just gonna keep my 2 stroke Cat running.

How do them 4 strokers start when it's -25 F? Could they put an ether bottle on them with a remote primer for cold morning starts?

My Yam 150 starts fine never had a problem not sure how you would get starting fluid in injectors without huge -25 hassle anyhow? Don't know below -25F never started below that in northern WI but other solutions for super cold, heat blankets & auto start help but nothing going to start easily in nasty cold.

just get a heater you put in the coolant line, that's what Mr.Freeze does and problem eliminated. Battery still gonna be week but you got a better chance when the motor is warmer than ice cold

Always the motel room hair drier option good for a chuckle every time I see it going on
