Yikes Leafout Warning Today

Leaves are coming down fast around here. Hopefully everybody got their fill of color last weekend as there may not be much left this weekend.

Leaves falling quickly here in the western UP too. Most of the colors are past peak and bare trees are common. Then there are a few that have'nt turned yet...

Oh, so YOU are one of those guys.....
A long time ago when I was much younger and well, let's just say without wisdom, I used to rake my leaves up and burn them....one day a cop showed up and said..."hey...don't you know you aren't supposed to burn those leaves...somebody complained which is why I am here...." as I spotted the neighorhood biddy...peaking out from behind her curtains....so I said to the cop..."what exactly should I do with they leaves then....." and he said..."hey that's your problem...use that tailer over there and haul them away"....so I loaded the 6x8 trailer with 2 foot sides up very high with nice oak leaves....and hooked it up to my Scout.. sailed down the road thinking of where to haul them...until I looked in the mirror and the leaves were blowing out all over the place.....moral to the story....there is more than one way to get rid of leaves..by the way....I was pretty hestarical to see those leaves emptying from the trailer.

thats funny, i use to burn small piles in my back yard as well, untill our new asian neighbors thought is was ok to burn the enitre back yard full of leafs. That does work the first hour or so until the neighborhood is full of smoke and the fire dept shows up. they burned the entire back yard and part of the city property that we back up to. I laughed my butt off until the cops showed up and fire trucks blocked the street. now they have a yard waste container like everyone else,lol. As a young boy growing up in Golden Valley, MN we all had burning barrels that we burned all of our leafs in. Alot of people just use to rake the leafs into a pile in the street and let em rip. I can still see the plums of smoke as everyone did it on a nice fall day. Heck you could buy the barrels at the local hardware store. Those days are gone.

We were at peak last weekend, wind is blowing now, slight rain/ snow. Time to put Fall behind us and think SNOW!! I am so ready for winter, hate the inbetween stuff.Got the Dog's winter gear out, riding atv tomorrow for our Club Fall Color ride, don't care how cold, I wanna ride!!!
