YOU might be a MORON!!!!

My observations from 4 days riding in the Greenland, Mass, and Twin Lakes area this weekend, and by the way GREAT job grooming guys. Borrowing from Jeff Foxworthy......If you see a sign that says Stay On Trail, and you are stuck down in the deep, You might be a Moron! If you see a sign with a picture of a snowmobile with a circle and slash and you drive around it anyway, You might be a Moron! If you see a sign that says No Motorized Vehicles, and you drive by it to play anyway, You might be a Moron! If you pass me on the Nichols trail standing so proud on your sled and purposely kick your back end over about a foot in front of my skis to roost me when I am running 60 mph, you Might be a Moron.......check that, You are a Moron!!! And I was way on the right side of the trail allowing you to pass, no need for the roost Moron. It's very concerning to me that people continue to ignore the signs we put up to protect private property. Sooner or later we are going to lose the access to these lands, and then where are we going to ride? And what ever happened to trail manners? Other than that it was a great long weekend in the Yoop.....

I think that you are wrong about "You Might Be a Moron." If someone disobeys the signs you mentioned, "You ARE A Moron".

Lots of morons in that area. I am guessing the no motorized vehicle signs were mine and we have had lots of problems in the last couple years with people ignoring them.

hate to say it but it has gotten way way to crowded in da UP. only 2 trips last yr after a few hrs in twin area I was over it and trailered to a diff spot that I was sure had way less traffic and I was correct camped out in a buds real rustic shack. think I am done with the twin area all together .
dont know if I will make it at all this yr 7more hrs in the truck looks better than dealing with the crazy traffic and hopping your last semi secret area has not been over run.

We had a quite popular event(a jump-in) here on a lake near Pickerel. Some estimates were up to 1800 sleds. Saw the same "Morons" here. I was met by a group of stand-up riders on long tracks on the grade north of Lily going at a high rate of speed, they did not slow down, just before passing me they accelerated to impress me. We hardly have enough snow to handle a 1 1/4" lug, let alone a 2 1/2". Some riders went off trail past "stay on trail-winter wheat". I wish they were man enough to go with me when I have to explain to the farmer why his field is all torn up by snowmobilers who apparently can't read.

We had a great week in the UP the first week of Feb but I have to agree there is a LOT more disrespect in the UP than there use to be. It appears that some of them have gone underground as we did not see many Mohawks. I am from Central IL and I just hope those that are from the UP understand there are 2 definitions for FIB's, and I hope one of them is "Fine Illinois Brothers of Snowmobiling!

Staple66 you literally insulted the entire site and every member for sayin that!! Ill put money on it that just about everyone including John has complained at one point an you being a fresh member tells me that you haven't had much time on this site. The fact in the matter is by posting threads like this one brings awareness to others around us and by doing that maybe the yahoos will someday see that what there doing us slowly closing our sport I highly doubt you would want people riding on your private property or not paying any attention to signs or fences you put up. So thank you for insulting the members of this site and watch what you say because your the one who looks like a moron and a disrespectful a$$

Modman440 not trying to insult anyone. Not saying its ok to ride where ever you want. What does piss me off is everytime I come on here all I see is people complaining about one thing or another. Get over it and have fun while out sledding. Don't judge me if you don't know me.

We all like to vent. Perhaps the topic could be worded differently and in a different way. The title comes across as screaming in disgust, which is not what anyone likes to see at any time. The post originator has valid points to get across, so it wouldn't be fair to try and put this or any other negative topic in a different forum. If you all recall, last winter negative topics started popping up more often in late Jan early Feb as well. We have progressed from topics about our first ride, waiting for our first, or where is this or that? To, "MORONS," mainly because we are at that stage of winter.

It's all too easy to let emotions fly on the net. I try to type out what I want to say, sit back and read it at least five times and then edit and post, only to go back and edit some more! (and I still usually get something wrong)

I certainly see the issues with too many negative topics as you read down the forum. It gets you down and makes you not want to come here to see what's up. But, the whole reason John has this here is for us to let others know what's on our minds. To share. To praise. To help. And yes, to complain.

Perhaps this topic and the one about starting a "complaint" room are a wake up call to all of us to be sensitive about the experience we seek on this site. Remember, it's all about fun. If you run into a moron, please tell us about it, but perhaps in a less screaming way.

From Blazing Saddles:

"You have to remember. We're dealing with the common cleave of the midwest. You know. Morons!" (Gene Wilder)

Get over it and have fun while out sledding? Are you kidding me? Do you even realize what will happen if people keep ignoring signs and going where ever they want? Do you know how hard it is to get permission to cross private lands? And then keep it after the owners get pissed because of "morons" that go where ever? The whole reason for my post was to bring attention to a growing problem and have a little fun ala Jeff Foxworthy. If the truth hurts, I must have hit a nerve.

Switch you make very valid points. Yes it does get old seeing these post but!!!! They need to be out there. You never know we could have members on this site that are land owners them selves that let trails go through there property and maybe if they see that we are aware and that it bothers us as much as it does them maybe just maybe we won't loose there support or the use of the property idk I guess I try to keep a positive train of thought but can only do that for so long. STAY ON THE GOD D$&M TRAILS

Twin lakes area doenst appeal to me at all anymore, think my riding style is now 2-3 trips west and forget the UP. Too many (stupid, rude, arrogant) people. The crowds last year totally turned me off and all the new wanna be's is disgusting. although i have made alot of money rebuilding sleds that overheat and installing scratchers to the kids that want 2" paddles and no snowflaps cuz they saw it on slednecks

I agree. It's a wine fest on here.

I'd say that there is very little chance at all if the idiots ticking everyone off on and off the trails visit this site. This site is geared mostly toward people over 40. At least that is who is on this site the most according to the polls. My guess is that most if not all the idiots on the trails are in their teens to twenties. Therefore making the rants great for the cheerleaders that are happy about the rants.

I'm in my forties and tired of the rants....I have a solution. Everyone that is tired of dealing with something about the sport that bothers them, sell your sled(s). No sense in snowmobiling if you don't enjoy it....there will always, whether in the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s or the 2010s, be someone doing something that will bug you....and if it is too much, then time to get out of the sport.
