2011 Polaris Lineup

If you spring order you get the two inch track, that might be to much for the trail riding unless off trailing all the time.

Yep, I like it too, I just don't understand their thoughts on the running boards though. They shoud have done the same thing as they did on the RMK's.

I can't wait until next season. I had my wife drive my sled this year and she liked it so much she is encouraging me to get a new one for next year so she can have mine. Now I have to decide which model.

I like how they're keeping sort of a two tiered system - the IQ still remains in each segment.

Im not a fan. I wish they would really start developing the 4 stroke engines. All the manufacturers except for BRP only have 1 4stroker. Look at the dirtbike manufacturers, the 2strokes are completely uncompetitive, its only a matter of time for snowmobile tech to go this route. Why not get ahead of the game like Yamaha did in 2000 with the 426F.

The big difference between dirtbikes and snowmobilies is about 300 pounds. Until 4 strokers have same or close power to weight ratios (and have a reasonable total weight of under 600), they will only be viable trail sleds. I loved my Apex and Vector, but for anything but high trail mile days they just don't have the appeal.

I get what you are saying, but I dont think snowmobile manufacturers are putting their best foot forward. Theres nothing on a dirbike thats made of steel anymore except fasteners, fork tubes, and exhaust. The frame, handlebars, external rotating elements, etc are all aluminum on a dirtbike. I dont really think a snomobile can say the same. The snow manufacturers will need to start going this direction sooner or later. Right now they are spending all their RnD dollars on making all these crazy 800cc engines. Once they get over that, the focus will be on composite materials and making these things lighter. Same exact thing the dirtbike manufacturers went through, only the dirtbikers got all composite/aluminum components BEFORE the crazy 4stroke engines came out.

I think their sleds look great! I just wish the Switchback was in the new chassis like the RMK is. I want a 4 stroke and the new chassis, but doesn't look like that's gonna happen. I'm leaning towards the Rush 600 LX right now, but may have to decide to wait another year as I love my 4 stroke. I've heard they have a new 4 stroke coming in 2012. What to do?

Lets see the Yamaha apex se lists for $14,949.
The polaris 800 pro xr list for $11,599.
Do the math the rush is $3,350 less!!!
As far as weight apex rtx weight 560 lb. dry, I know that not a apex se.
The 600 rush was right around 460-470 lb., the 800 probably weights around
20-30 lb. more, thats around 70 lb. difference.
Rush 800 around 490 lb. and thats probably high.

Think Snow!!!

I've been riding polaris for a long time now. I have to say that I'm a little disappointed to see them make the practically 'full' change over to the rush chassis. Unless you are buying a 4 stroke or a more 'basic' sled, they are all rush. I posted in a prior thread- I rode one this year and was not all that impressed. I did not think the suspension was any better than the IQ chassis- and there was absolutely ZERO wind protection on that thing. The wind that came around the front and over your legs was unreal. Not to mention the windshield was basically non-existant and you had the wind on your entire upper body. No hand protection. I don't mean to slam it, but unless they made some modifications to address the 'coldness' of that machine- I would not want one for trail riding (which is what I do). If you are off trail- eh, no biggie. But I only ride the trails and we clip along at a pretty good pace and would not want to be on that all day.

I wish guys would quit complaining about the rush's stock w/s, you can put a 21 incher on it... I wouldn't let an accessory that's as simple as a w/s or handguards stop me from buying a sled. I rode one with the mid height screen and thought it was fine, and the sled handled like it was on rails.

Overall I like the lineup, a little disappointed they're not offering a 600 136 or 144 in the new chassis. I suppose that will be 2012. Hard to say where they will go with their 4 stroke. Solid engine but can they get it to fit in the new Chassis? Anybody know if pol is developing the new rear skid into anything longer than 121?

It doesn't seem like the snow check programs are what they used to be. It would be nice if they could offer something a little better than pricing at msrp with two graphics choices. (I'm talking all 4 brands too)

Spease- go for the Rush LX with retro graphics! we got all summer to do the motor swap.
