project Mtn Max

alright, I am gonna build out my Mtn Max to a very good performing boondocker. When I had my M8 I was afraid to rode it hard cause it was so new so I am gonna stick to the Mtn Max and build er up. I am looking for a donor sled or a top end of a sx 700. I'd also need the carbs and cdi. Jugs are the 8CH-11311-01-00. I'd also consider a srx 700 but would need a hood. The main reason I am going the route of the Mtn Max is because no one really rides them. I have rode all my buddies, cross fire, switchback, renegade and summits. The Max is a good balanced stand up sled. I already am running a cat 141 power claw with extroverts, viper front shocks, simmons skis, riser with long cables. I need the motor or top end as above, I'd also like a slp can or a mbrp can. I need to sell a few things to fund this project. I have a 2007 Yamaha Majesty scooter looking to get 2900 or a 85 Yamaha big wheel 200 for $1000. Also have some high end bmx bikes. I'd even trade the 600 for a 700 plus a few bucks. Anyone have a wrecked sx700?

Lenny a buddy of mine had a 2000 or 2001 Mountain Max 700 for sale, I think he wanted around 2400.00 for it I can check and see if he still has it if you want, I know it has a brand new track on it, let me know if your interested, I'd haul it up for free the weekend of the Ride In.

you got to get the bender pipes for that thing if I remember they were good for like 21hp.

Gotcha. I have the same sled, same year, lots of mods. Sorry to hear you have motor issues, typically the triple red heads are problem free, have around 6500mi on mine with no issues. If you want ALOT of excellent info on these sleds, check out totallyamaha.com and let the search function be your friend. From what you listed above, sounds like you have a good start to a reliable stump jumper.

I will add, that my best/favorite 'mod' for this sled was a new seat. Got a Boss a few years ago and has made it a much more enjoyable ride both off and on-trail.

oh no, I am not having any motor problems. I just want more hp so when I take it out west I can climb higher. I line up with my buddies sleds, 06 700 crossfire, 09 doo 600 etec and I hang right there. I just want to blow them away. My mtn max is running perfect these days and I really don't need that much more for the UP but when we get deep I could use some more power. The max is a great sled. I have family members that are fabricators and am looking at a spindle mod to raise the front end without changing anything else.

Lenny see if you can find a set of Power Inc center dump pipes for it. I had a set on my 01 SX700R, and holy h e l l what a dramatic change in power. Plus, the music coming out of those pipes was very arousing. :D

I think that yammi 600 and 700 have to be the best motor ever built for a sled I know of 1 with over 12k with no work done ever except carb cleanings many with over 9k on original top ends amazing.and you dumped the crap skid for a cat skid prob a real fun Boony now
