I've been heavily involved in snowmobiling for forty years. And I agree we've always had the problem but it has gotten much worse in the last several years. Seems like the goal is to be the first to track unmarked snow. To the point that I've had people trying to carve up the six inches of snow in my backyard. So yes, I believe it has gotten worse. Just like the quality of some of the posters on here. Everyone have a safe season.
not going to stick up for the dumbasses that cause these problems, just saying it has been going on since the first snowmobile trail opened up decades ago. Is it worse now? Of course. There are many, many more snowmobiles and riders than there were years ago. The percentage of those who cause you the trouble? The same. Just more riders. Just saying, linking this all to "the next generation" is a bunch of crap. My dad's generation was far more wild, crazy, and disrespectful as young adults than my generation. And my kid's generation? Are you telling me they can get away with what my generation got away with? Not with everything being followed and scrutinized now on the internet.
So, to summarize: are there more disrespectful hellions out there than before? By percentage, no. Are there more sleds out there now? Yes. If 100 sleds went by in a day 30 years ago and 1 % of them didn't follow the signs, 1 person went off the trail. If 1000 sleds go by today and 1% of them don't follow the signs, 10 of them go off of the trail. So, lay off of the new generation crap. You all were just as much a bunch of sh#$heads as the last generation and the next generation when you were that age.
The problem isn't going away, ever. Better find something else to bitch about.
