Yamaha guys

Thats why I said between these 2. grrrrrrr . Dont wanna buy a 1st year sled. and yes I know its a proven motor and a proven chassis. Just like a good women and a good man are proven but add marriage and you never how good its gonna be.

Not sold on 128 track for 164hp or air shocks get out hand pump to adjust trail side just not for me... I'm a clicker shock guy. Very much sold on Apex XTX with clicker shocks, EPS, 144 tipped track best of all worlds EXUP not necessary but not a problem either. Going to have to stud down the center for all that hp for hook up & stopping no mater which Apex. I'm riding 2007 Attak now looked at Viper & I'm NOT worried about OEM agreement but Apex just fits me better so would be Apex XTX all the way for more flotation in the deep stuff & will gobble up trail garbage. For UPMI & northern WI better off with Apex XTX so you can ride the deeper stuff with 144 tipped will take tight stuff as well as 128 be better in bumps than 128. I'm sure you will be happy with any Apex but from my experience XTX all the way.! :)

I have the 08 Apex LTX (144 in track and dual studs down the middle and Stud Boy Dualies) and like it except for push in the tight corners.
If I were to buy again, I wouldn't go with that long a track amd probably get a Vector,

pizzaman , that is one thing that worried me with the 144 but with the tipped track thought it wouldnt push much. But isnt a smoother ride worth a little push? Whitedust, you know I put alot of miles on , do you think the LTX would be good for me ? One thing Im alittle worried about is the cooling aspect, especially cuz I like to ride around here alot and there is a lot less snow here. Trying to make the right decision , thanks for any and all your help .

I own two 2011 Apex XTX's with 10000 miles on each, love the 144 tipup rails for balancing the weight. If you ride only tight twisty trails I would suggest the standard Apex, many guys stuggle to get the SE dialed in.[JMHO]

There are plenty of these out there now. Why not test drive one of each and make your choice then? An Apex of any variety is never going to be a tight trail machine no matter what you do to it. The LTX and XTX will both bridge bumps better than the 128. Weight difference between any of them does not matter because they are all grossly overweight. In my experience the base shocks on a plain old Apex are poor. The air shocks are OK but the coil over Ohlins are the best. The XTX is supposed to be a shade faster on top end because of the rear skid angles but there are plenty of SE guys that claim otherwise. These things are not cheap. Try to get some seat time before you make the move.

I own a '12 Apex standard. Coming off a '10 Vector GT. I was the same way couldn't decide between the standard or SE. The standard has the dial on the side of the tunnel which I like a lot. I rode them both and felt as though the standard rode better. So I purchased the standard and saved a grand also. Best decision I've ever made. With the SE, if you need to adjust the shocks, that is definitely more of a convenience but there is no room on the thing to store the pump. I feel as though the apex rides a tad bit better than the Vector and I loved that Vector. I just love my apex more. It is a powerhouse that is a trail sled only and the EPS is the best! You don't feel the weight at all. And it gets good fuel economy, around 17 mpg and I'm not nice to it!

I have NOT heard of any overheating problems with Apex XTX 144 tipped that got taken care of in 2009 with rear heat exchanger. Yes 144 tipped is best ride & track combo & can be benefical riding unplowed forest roads or will bridge trail garbage really only choice for me. You will have to play around with skis a bit & carbides to get nay Apex to carve but it is doable with bergstroms or Snow trackers. dfattack has had Apex XTX 144 with EPS since 2011 & luvs the sled but he uses snowtrackers. Apex RA ok but look at XTX more traditional 2 shock rear suspension with clickers.

Lots of us Yammy guys are spoiled shock wise & ALWAYS want ohlins all around & know I would too but Yamaha not using ohlins & saving money on shock mfg costs. I washed my Attak 136 yesterday & had no snow in suspension at all so I picked up rear to back up sled on snow & almost flipped the sled over. I way over extended myself with necessary energy because I had recently stuck the sled in 4 foot drift & had to grunt & dig out the monster. With no snow in the suspension the sled was pretty darn light to move around from dead lift so to me it is not the weight of the sled it is the snow weight that gets frozen in over 1000s of miles that is heavy to dead lift on the trail you won't notice a well balanced sled. An Apex is not a sled that you throw around it is a point & shoot sled that you take time to set up to be an excellent handling machine. If you want to throw an Apex around on the trail it is not the sled for you. For me as high milage rider I like Apex because I know it will not break down I won't be stuck with recalls just gas & go sled like all Yamaha sleds. Yes you have to deal with the dead lift weight but if you want superlight then Viper would be the right choice. I hope this helps.

Well, welcome to.............TEAM BLUE!!! :D

Don't have a lot of seat time on Apex's my self, just enough to know how hard they pull. Really seems like a perfect sled for UP type trails and the way you ride.
Hope it's good fit for you.
Need any info or help check out Totallyamaha. Great bunch of guys and wealth of info.

THE CHOICE IS..... APEX SE. Wanted something reliable and like you said , gas and go.

Congrats!! Top of the line sled for SURE & people know it! You will be engaged at pitstops but don't leave keys in your sled or will be long gone it is like stealing a corvette!
