Sled exhaust VS Harley exhaust

I'm sure this has probably been brought up before, so I'm sorry if this is somehow a repost. I'm not the type to have aftermarket exhaust on my sled, not my thing. I'm just a little confused why sled noise is so frowned upon and regulated in the snowmobile industry but any douchebag can scream through a neighborhood after hours on a Harley and nobody bats an eye. I am neither for or against the noise but why not be consistent? Before I get the hate mail responses. I only think 94.687993% of Harley guys are douchebags. I have many friends and family with Harleys and I own one as well.

Harley douchebag definition -Usually an insurance Agent, always looking angry, covered in Harley brand clothing. Only miles logged are to the Harley store to buy more Harley brand merchandise. Wearing as much leather as possible and giving everyone the evil eye. Clears out the throttle 87 times at every stoplight and looks at every car like they owe him something. Passes a car to get in front of them and slows down. I'm sure i'm forgetting something.

Why - because the police should enforce the laws against Harleys with loud exhausts, just like they do with cars modded out, or the DNR does with snowmobiles. Why is it I can ride a sled in the middle of nowhere and I have to worry about a DNR guy sitting trailside that might be overzealous and wants to hassle me, but the Harley goof with the bandana, leather and colors doesn't get touched when he rattles my windows from a half mile away? Discrimination against snowmobilers, pure and simple. Enforce the laws equally for all. Better yet, just put on an exhaust and ride it, but throttle down in the cities and take your chances. I've said the same thing for years. The noise out of Harleys is pure and simple - ridiculous, not cool, and completely annoying to anyone not riding.

And that running excuse/joke about loud pipes save lives - that is so old and tired, it's now a cliche'. I dislike Harley boys and their bikes purely because of the obnoxious majority who do not know when to quit. Even though if I lived in FL or AZ, I'd consider having one, I still wouldn't want to put myself in that group, because then I'd be a hypocrite, so I probably never will have one. Totally conflicted

It's about time somebody posts this on here. Getting sick of watching 50 year olds flying by with their straight piped 50 horse harley knowing they'll never get ticketed for having exhaust that can be heard for 5 miles. My neighbor has an extremly loud harley, our road is 25 mph, he leaves every freaking morning at 5:00 am guns it down the road doing about 50. Man the 50 horse must've got the better of him. Before you jump on me, will you jump on for saying everyone who owns a toyota prius is a big dumb greeny? No. Plain and simple, it's a problem, and it seems like nobody wants to fix it. Sled exhaust is simple, we ride on private property. But cars, trucks, etc. all have exhaust regulations but not harleys. I don't care how loud your harley is if your going to ride the centerline all day long your going to get hit. Wow... I did it. Lets so how long this post lasts.

My thoughts exactly!!! Glad some see it the way I do.

So chilly stop the poser crap. We see right thru you when you don't reply after I set up trucking for you west . Pose somewhere like ..... oh no one wants posers.
Your whole intention is to bash Harley guys. Well I know about 60 of them in here. Walk lightly. Your thread has no comparison going it is a direct bash. I take it personal.

Get all emotional on us, like the woman in management at work.

Not with me and my $30 Klim undies, the don't bunch!!! Was going commando the other night! And made a new friend. lol. Love my springer and the 1903 technology. I do have stock exhaust on my sled and bikes. No radio on my bikes or ear buds or any of that nonsense either. Those Gold Wingers listening to Lawrence welk at full volume thru 6 speakers and chattering to momma with communicators just inches behind him at the stop light , now that is noise pollution.

some of the wings get to be a bit much at some point may just as well get back in the car. guess if I was going to actually tour north America it would be the way to go. but don't some even have air-conditioned suits u can plug in to the bike?
I love some of the striped down café gold wings I have seen guys build
my wife was doing some work for Honda and we had a Valkyrie for a summer yrs ago that was a sweet bike still cant believe they could not sell them but can still make shadow clones and sell them all day.
I don't know I just like my jap bikes to look like old school jap bikes (CB cbx kz h1 )and my brit bikes to look like brit(golden flash Daytona tiger ) bikes and my usa bikes to look like cruisers
and 90%of the German stuff can just go away some of the vintage and a few of the GS I would save from the crusher rest are eye pollution.

It is truly a joy to read all your negative posts about Fiat and Dodge, and then read this post. Really gives some good perspective...

First of all, it's the minority that gives the bad rap to all. As a fellow snowmobiler, you should know exactly how this works. Non-snowmobilers will lump all into one category as soon as there is some bad press. Like a death from drinking and riding. I't seem obvious that you are a non-biker and are guilty of doing exactly what snowmobilers hate. Grouping all together with the minority that ruin it for all. You'd be amazed the amount of good that bikers do. Every weekend there are charity rides going on all over for good causes that raise tons of money. I'm partaking in a ride this weekend that will probably be around 700 bikes give or take. Think about how much money will be raised for a good cause. I don't even ride a Harley, but unsure why you point out only Harley boys? That would be like me saying all Arctic Cat riders are bad for the sport. I hope you can look at this from a different perspective and don't jump to labeling all, because of the minority…

Honda Yamaha BMW did not take American taxpayer and borrowed money from China and some Middle Eastern countries then take that money and build new factories in Mexico another third world crap holes. that's my perspective. we don't have to worry about me buy any new bikes ever anything I bought the last 20 years has been at least 30 years old

It seems 1/2 bikes out there are louder than heck, the minority is the same size as the majority. That is the problem. We never said they are bad people.
