Getting back into sport, what sled should I buy?

whitedust you don't have to take things so personal. i have no beef with you or where you buy your machines, although your constant pom pom cheerleading about your dealer and your 4 stroke sled gets a little nauseating. and yes what the other guy was saying you do bash doo's 2 strokes plenty on here, have for the last two years.

ride on brother.

I called you for "unsportsman like conduct" & in my book you are taking the 15 yard penalty & that is the end result of that play. If you want an intelligent debate about any topic state it & we will go from there otherwise consider yourself ignored.... find another fish to bait. lol:)

Give it a rest you guys. You could have it like I do....no club to groom for and nobody to ride with!

Back to the OP - You have Doo 1200 GSX written all over you. When you go west, rent a mountain sled. Sounds like you can afford pretty much anything and you have the blessing of your wife. Can't get too much better than that!

I gotta say....I bleed as yellow as anybody but I can honestly say I don't think I've ever seen Pete bash Doo. Has he referenced flaking rings and the 800's crank problems? Sure....but is it bashing if he's talking about a known problem? I don't think so. If anything, I think he's pretty good, and better than most, about giving ALL the OEM's their due.

As far as "cheerleading" for his dealer, is there something wrong with that? If you're lucky enough to have a good dealer, why not talk them up? There are too many crappy dealers out there, so to me it's nice to know when somebody finds a good one. If I were in the market for a Yammi, I know where I'd be going!

I DO take it personally when you make wisecracks about my reference to Pat's an oustanding dealer & that statement came out of left field from YOU for no reason other than to be mean spirited. If you have an issue with me fine lets' have an intelligent debate about a given topic if you don't like my posts about doo don't read them or we can debate the subject. Everything I stated about doo 800 2s is 100% true & happened to me not some made up BS or clipped from some snomo mag it happend to me & I have the right to share that info in a professional manner. Pat's is an outstanding dealer & deserves the positive press you don't want to read that info then ingnor it but for you to even bring it up is petty & low. Again just calling it the way I see it & you brought it up not me so I'm taking issue with it....simple as that & I will continue to defend Pat's.

I think you guys gave bean counter reason to wish he never asked. Go Yamicat!

my wife is saying she wants a yammi cat .I am torn have the blessing to buy a new sled. but the blessing is for something I don't really want and she will use for 6 days a yr if lucky and me a hand full.
I say I would rather buy my self a new mountain sled but I really don't want to do that I have ridden them all and none feel like I need to drop 12k and none are going any place I am not.
so torn do I buy a yammi cat because it is "cute and quiet with electric start"her words or keep the f8 sp with less than 1200mi. It is crazy I have the pass and don't want to use it am I sick this has never happened to me .is there a blue pill I should be taking? or is that for something else that happens when u get old

Ez I recently put some seat time in on new Viper 137 track. The stock windshield is useless so will need to upgrade for Moma .... the Viper sitting position is AOK I liked it but thought in showroom it was too far forward for me & the reason you need to ride them. Viper steering is heavy & hard but has great trail manners very forgiving goes where you point & shoot. Big bumps, little bumps no problem soaks the junk up as good as any sled it's size. The engine is no Nytro just not the same snort with front exhaust but plenty for wifey. Push button reverse is right on instant response, pod & controls very good as well no other brand has better ergos are right on.To me a Yamacat with eps would knock my socks off maybe in 2015 & could be retroed to 2014s is the rumor. I didn't make any suspension adjustments since demo sled so not sure if steering could be lighter with softer preload. The smart buy would be buy non currnet Yamacat of your choice in 2015 then install eps yourself if it is there in 2015. I hope this helps. :)

Don't ask my friend with 300 miles on his Indy 800 and it went kaboom.

I was thinking about getting that sled glad I went ski doo and that is coming off 5 yamahas.

I use to be loyal but none of the dealers or mfgs care about you. Buy what makes you happy. It is your money.

why you keep saying you need to defend your dealer??
i never said a word negatively or positively about your dealer. you're making this a federal case. re read my post!
also you said on an earlier post you were ignoring me now you're calling me out again? make up your mind.

I took a 3 year break from sledding and now I am thinking about getting back into the sport. I had a 2008 Ski Doo MX-Z Adrenaline 600 SDI. I am leaning towards an 800 etec renegade, or a new cat Crossover. I have a 3.5 year old son who will be riding with me some of the time. I am simply looking for pros/cons on each sled I am considering, or I could be persuaded to try something else. I am a fairly aggressive trail rider, but also like to sit back, relax, and enjoy the scenery. As for budget, that is really not an issue. Thanks!!!

You really owe it to yourself to test ride a Doo 900 ACE.

Just get the GSX bud. It's an aggressive trail sled for when your alone and then if you add a seat like we do to ours, the new ones have an adjustment on the rear shock that makes it more stiff. We have a rev and so with the seat we have to put the two lightest ones on there so it doesn't bottom out. Get it with the 1200, brp has it right with the 4s. As for the viper I sat on one in the dealership the other day and there is practically no wind protection. Plus I like rider forward, but it felt way too forward. Not to mention it's a cat underneath, and cats don't like water (snow).

Yep I preferred GSX 4s to Viper as well. Also thought Viper was too far farward but was comfy riding vs showroom butting it. Viper with a real windshield & eps would be a kick A$$ sled maybe 2015?

GSX 4s does not lack much more snort than Viper 4s engine front exhaust, nytro was better than both enginewise but 139 ponies with rear exhaust compared to 130ish for GSX. I could not do GSX without hooks dealer said might be able to take renegade bars & install on GSX but cost to that & said hooked handlebars might hit windshield. I don't need heated seat on GSX either that end of me does not get cold.lol Just could never could get there on GSX or Renegade so now riding 2012 Apex XTX 144 with eps & luv it.:)
