Will the new AXYS chassis take Polaris back to #1?

I too don't care who is number one. I've been riding Polaris for 24 years and just just swapped brands for two Vipers because I wanted to go four stroke. Polaris didn't offer it so I went elsewhere. Doesn't bother me a bit if Yamaha is not number one in sales, they make a good product! I think people over analyze being number one way too much. It's your money, buy what you like and suits your style of riding. Bragging rights for being number one is blown way out of proportion IMHO.

I dont care whos number 1...I just snow checked a axys switchback pro x yesterday...gonna be a long summer. Keeping the cat racer for a backup sled. Polaris will move some serious units after hearing how many snow checked sleds have been placed already. I just can't imagine the masses really enjoying those colors ski-doo is offering. I mean that freeride is the equivalent of shag carpeting. We'll look back on that sled and go wow...what was I thinking riding that sled.

And I still say, what it looks like is relatively unimportant compared to how it performs.....under the hood and under the tunnel. Regardless of brand. Really can't see what it looks like when riding it, but you sure can feel it. Paint, plastic, and stickers are just that.

Just one rider's opinion, of course....there are those to whom appearance means everything. No right, no wrong, just a matter of preference. :)

Been an enthusiastic snowmobiler since 1966. Have owned all the current brands plus several that no longer exist(Scorpion, Rupp,Kawasaki) so no particular brand loyalty. Am now on my fifth four stroke(2 Vectors, 2 cats, ACE 900 Doo) and will never go back to two stroke for trail sled. I agree with those that have stated Polaris has no chance at retaking #1 without a viable four stroke.

I'd have to go along with that too. Kind of a Head Scratcher since Polaris offers a quality 4 Stroke for their ATV's. I don't get it...

Not even way up. 8000 rpm is plenty to get the job done. Gotta laugh at the "know it alls" who have no clue.

Just stating what you have stated to keep your motor from going bye bye. But I got 3600 miles..look at me everyone...i cant blow it up....ya u also dont run the sled to its potential as i am assuming the 800 poo max HP is +/- 100 rpm's of 8000. You stated you wont go to 8k along with riching the oil pump 3 turns. Most engines wont burn down when they are overly rich and never peaking HP....

very surprised to see a 550 cat motor on the bench - I wore out 2 1997 mountain cats over 8 years and broke about everything on them except the motors -
they went through the oil (25-1) but never an piston or crank or anything motor related- and I am not a cat fan but those 550 motors were the toughest I have seen

and it is the same bottom end as the early 600 and those were good for a solid 5k before needing a top end . talk about a stretch trying to pull out a pick of a busted skirt on a 15+ yr old motor .

Anybody see the latest Sled Head 24/7 show? They tested the 2015's. Pretty interesting to hear what they (4 test riders) had to say about what they thought the best trail sled was. It was unanimous, and quoting Paul Mack he said they all thought "This is the best groomed trail snowmobile I have ever driven, anytime, anywhere, even custom snowmobiles." Now I have to watch the rest and see what they say about the crossovers.

But what did Meisha say?

She's hasn't been on there since last year! :( I miss her compared to the replacement.

They picked the Poo Pro-X as best crossover.
Ski Doo Renegade best big bump sled.
Ski Doo 174" best mountain sled.

Then I'd have to say the results are inconclusive :)

I don't have cable anymore so I don't watch that anymore - they normally seem to be very careful to pick at least one sled from each brand for their best-of ratings.

Msease....while it's nice Polaris is finally getting some good press...and doing some positive things with their line-up...I will be a skeptical until the general public gets their hands on the machine....I'm sorry but the media tends to overhype stuff in the spring...I can give you numerous examples from every brand where the magazines said "it's the best"..."or the fastest"...and then consumers get the sleds and have all kinds of problems, or they aren't what they thought....that's all I'm saying.
Now if this axys chassis turns out to be the real deal....and Polaris comes out with some class competitive 4 strokes..then they will have my attention. Don't forget they have been working with KTM for many years...KTM builds some killer 4 stroke motorcross engines...I think alot of people like myself are wondering with this lighter, flatter handling, axys chassis.. what a 4 stroke would be like it in??? How many Polaris riders would jump on a 120-130 HP 4 stroke that got 18-20 MPG...that weighed around 500 lbs???

Go back 25 years....Polaris with their indy trail, and Indy 500....and Yamaha with their Phazer.. led the industry in reliability...it's why both were number 1 in sales (Yamaha from 1980-1986)...Polaris from 87- through the 90's...Reliability does matter...or at least it once did...that's why some of us prefer four strokes, and as whitedust said..it's a market polaris is missing out on.

I have to agree that the info available to us has a strong potential to be bias and don't forget that the small input from the magazine does not represent the masses. Different strokes for different folks. Also, keep in mind how loyal people are to their brand. Some will never consider this sled even if it is "the best",,,and most importantly, how do you/I/we define the best?

Some still prefer the older traditional sit down, some despise the rider forward, it's a crazy world and people have a huge array of tastes.

How diverse is riding style? and how does that impact each individual rider?

AXYS is supposed to be less aggressive knees straight more relaxed so until I sit on it I just don't know how it will feel to me. The lack of a 4s engine is a killer for me but chassis fit may keep my interest just don't know yet? AXYS should appeal to loyal poo guys who have Rush pro ride more of core market appeal to me. I don't mind the 2 piece skid but many just can't get used to the look. To me if the skid works & easy to adjust I'm good with the design. The ultralight design does not matter to me & should not for average joe trail rider if a sled handles & is comfortable he is good with it any brand. It is interesting to me how many peeps have said poo needs a good 4s or no go. Why not why does poo not embrace the 4s market?

90s, Ditto for me on being a Polaris guy (since 1972), but I didn't buy the Rush. I test rode it back-to-back with Doo, Cat, & Yam at a demo ride in 2010, then bought '11 & '12 Ski-Doo XPs. I am very glad I went Ski-Doo; perfect reliability & performance, for me. The AXYS will have to prove itself to me on a demo ride sometime. I am tired of the hollow hype, ala Fusion & Rush.

This wasn't from the magazine, it's a tv show. It's not like only one publication or person is raving about this sled. I've read most of them so far, and they are all saying the same thing. Do some research yourselves and see.

Maybe Poo is staying out of the 4s market so Yamaha can keep it's 5% share of the market? ;)
