nope no instruction manual actually REALLY simple, just ride it. If you never drag race and just ride you will never know that the computer has pulled a degree of timing and threw a richer fuel map at it. For those of us who do drag race simply understanding when and why we are in limp mode is the point here folks. Not rocket science. Simple water temp gauge spells it out. And when the gauge says Azzzbeat ya hammer down. It is a SNOWMOBILE, so if ur riding in good SNOW, a limp mode is few and far between, normal operating temp for etec is 106-108, go over 120 she will pull some timing, quit simple, or if u dont hold the throttle in the infamous 2 stroke mid range lean zone for long distances triggering high egts. Another extremely complicated item that may need a manual haha

. In laymens terms, its the brain protecting its heart. There are many threads on dootalk of guys holding the 800etec wide open across lakes for over 10 miles, trying to burn it down. The "brain" is constantly making needed changes and using its multiple inputs to keep the heart "happy". Pretty impressive feat of engineering. Still waiting to see one etec fail in our LARGE group full of both 6s and 8s(mostly 8s). Couldnt be happier with the product and its nice seeing how many have converted. Long live the etec.
side note I hope cat releases there version of the 800 etec or c-tec I think they call it? Must still be trying to de-bug it, as if it was ready they woulda came with it. If it comes and is successfull , it will def make for a quicker release of the generation 2 etec, which we all know is just waiting in the wings.
